I have always been a fan of Michelle Pfeiffer. I cannot say that it is from her best works, but I loved 'Dangerous Minds' and 'Grease 2.' We also cannot forget her stellar work in 'One Fine Day.' It looks like Hollywood finally realized what an asset they had in Pfeiffer because this week she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her co-stars Paul Rudd and Jeff Bridges were in attendance when she received the honor.
Honestly, I am kind of surprised that it took Pfeiffer this long to get her own star. She has been in the A-list crowd for years and has acted in some classic movies (i.e. 'Scarface' and 'The Fabulous Baker Boys.) I mean if I were Pfeiffer, I would just be insulted that Michael Bolton and Kirstie Alley both were recognized before myself -- but maybe that is just me?

I couldn't agree more. The system for deciding those stars is unclear but apparently doesn't go by merit first..............at least she's there now, though

It seems the people who SHOULD get recognized sometimes don't, especially if they're not in the limelight currently. A good example of that would be Angela Cartwright, the actress who not only contributed significantly to "Lost In Space" and "The Sound Of Music" but as Danny Thomas' youngest child in "Make Room For Daddy", she was to tv what Shirley Temple was to movies, and that's a pretty big feat...yet...she has no star...

Pfeiffer was terrific in THE RUSSIA HOUSE. Any male viewer had to fall in love with her after seeing that movie. This outstanding work needs to be mentioned somewhere.

I honestly have to say that Michelle Pfieffer has had this coming for a long, long time. My favorite role of her's was in "Dangerous Liasions," opposite Glenn Close and John Malkovich. She is one of the few actresses of this day that has always had style and class. Kudos to you, Ms. Pfieffer. I am looking forward to seeing your new fantasy movie :)

Whats the big deal about that stupid star? They pay for that or their publicity people pay for it. It's just a money-making scam for that short bald guy who calls himself the mayor of Hollywood. She's a good actress, yes, but the names that are on there should stay the same -- the star is part of old hollywood and it should stay that way -- it's getting corny. Pretty soon they'll start ripping out the stars of people we are all to young to remember and that will suck.

They just don't hand out stars, celebs actually have to contribute about $10,000 just to get the star!! It is nice she is getting one but she also helped herself to get it.

A well-deserved honor for a beautiful and classy actress! I've enjoyed her roles in many movies but my favorite has to be when she played the love interest to BOTH Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell in Tequila Sunrise. I remember thinking, "Holy Crap, what a lucky lady (and lucky guys, too)!" Check out the hot tub scene between Michelle and Mel in that movie for some STEAM HEAT without any graphic sex...wow!

A well-deserved honor for a fine actress who is a very beautiful and classy lady as well! I've enjoyed Michelle's work in many movies but have to say that her role as the love interest of BOTH Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell in "Tequila Sunrise" may be my favorite. I remember thinking...holy crap, what a lucky girl (and lucky guys, too, of course)! Check out the hot tub scene between Michelle and Mel for some serious STEAM HEAT without any graphic sex -- whew!

It's not entirely Hollywood's choice to give a star. The star is awarded to people through their fan clubs. It is up to the members of the fan club to submit a request for a star to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will then approve or disapprove the star based on the actor/actress and the number of fan club members' requests. I believe there has to be 1500 fan club member requests to get a star, but I might be mistaken. The fan club also has to raise $25,000 to pay for the star, and that money cannot come from the celebrity being sponsored. In addition, the celebrity must be willing to be present for the presentation ceremony. If the star doesn't show up, then they don't get a star. That's how it works.

Geez, actually looked thinking it was some vain, selfish actress who did not deserve it. WRONG. She is gorgeous, talented and a good Wife and Mother not into plastic surgery and the latest way to look 1/2 your age (even dresses appropriately). In my book there are only four actresses deserving of a buck from my pocketbook. Holly Hunter, Jessica Lange, Michelle and of course Meryl Streep. Just my opinion. Drew Barrymore is the closest 5th.

How dumb is this star crap? Lets put it this way- THE OLSEN TWINS have a damn star! hah!
By Jim on Aug 9th 2007 at 10:20AM
Michelle is very beautiful at 49, I agree, but I also agree with whoever posted that Angela Cartwright deserves a star also. She was so busy in her youth and was in two very successful TV shows, plus the eternal SOUND OF MUSIC on film. It's too bad that the getting of these stars these days relies more on paying for steep price, rather than being given it for merit.
By Esmeralda on Aug 9th 2007 at 10:22AM
Celebrities apply to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for a star, who votes each year on the list of stars to be awarded that year. It's up to the celebrity to pay the $15,000 to have it installed and schedule the unveiling. Funny how the ceremonies just happen to be around movie openings, huh.
