Diet can be a negative word. If you ask an average woman how many diets she's been on, I'm guessing she'll say at least three. Many probably say that diets just don't work or that they only worked for a short period of time.I myself have been on, hmmm ... maybe at least two diets that I can think of. One when I was in high school and I lost so much weight in two weeks that it scared me, so I stopped (OK, that wasn't a diet, that was starving myself by eating carrots for lunch and dinner). And the other one was about two years ago. I haven't been on a diet since then, although the way I've been downing ice cream sundaes lately, I think I'll need to!
The last one that I did was the South Beach Diet and I'm pleased to say that it worked for me. I lost 15 pounds in 2 months. Woohoo! Plus my grocery bill was lower since I stopped buying cookies and desserts. I thought Phase I was the easiest phase, contrary to what others may say. It was easier for me because I knew exactly what I could and could not eat. I did get sick of having boiled eggs and skim milk everyday for breakfast, though, instead of my usual cereal with skim milk and orange juice.
When Phase II came around, I thought I was about to fail my new regime. I found that it was hard to control the portion of carbs and sugar that I could introduce back into my diet. Somehow I stuck with it -- I think logging in my information on the South Beach Diet Web site really helped me since I can track my food intake and my progress. Also, I did have a cheat day once a week where I allowed myself to eat anything as much as I want, so I didn't feel as deprived.
So now, I'm thinking about going back on the South Beach Diet. Although I just heard about the 3-hour diet, where you eat every three hours, and the cookie diet ... no joke! With the cookie diet, you eat one dinner and six hunger-suppressing cookies a day. That one is definitely interesting, but I don't think that will work for me since I need variety in my food.
I decided to use summer as an excuse to not go on a diet. What 's a girl to do when it's 95 degrees outside and you just need to have an ice cream cone? So maybe in the fall, I'll revisit this whole dieting thing again. Until then, you can share some dieting tips with me. Which diet plan has worked for you?

1. Cinchplan did really well in clinical trials. Rich in leucine, which helps maintain muscle mass. The muscle mass keeps your metabolism up. Check it out at http://www.cinchplan.com/good_health or http://www.squidoo.com/aslimmeryou/

2. I worked for Nutri/System for five years in New Product Development. Now I have a degree as a Holistic Practitioner. The thing about Nutri/System and Jenny Craig (for that fact) is that the foods are pre portioned. If you stick to the program you will lose weight at a steady slow rate. It does not always fit in with business meetings and dining out. Back then the average client was female, 5'4, and was an average of 35 pounds over weight. While the woman lost the weight, the majority of them would not continue the 1 year maintenance program and they would put the weight back on. To be healthy and fit, you need a lifestyle that supports your goals. Be realistic, exercise, cut out the processed foods and sugar. In addition, learn what foods you are allergic too. When you have respiratory allergies, what happens? Your nose fills with mucus. Mucus is an allergic response. When you consume foods you are allergic to your body fills with mucus. Look for signs of food allergies like, belching, gas, hiccups and runny nose or food cravings, these are all signs of allergies. Cut these foods out and you will quickly lose weight. 3. If you are looking for a great place to go FREE, I suggest SparkPeople.com. They have a great program, and you can keep a log of everything you have eaten online. It keeps up with everything, the calories, fat grams, carbs, even the vitamins you are getting in your diet. If you can stick with the diet they suggest, you can lose weight. It is an amazing site. They also have recipes. Good luck!

4. You really shouldn't reward yourself with food when you're on a diet by having an indugence day where you allow yourself to "eat anything as much as [you] want". Rewarding yourself with food only keeps your brain's pleasure impulses fixated on food instead of new skinny jeans or a new purse, for example.

5. Kimkins is MUCH better (and faster) than Atkins. Akins has been ruined since his death by idiots who don't 'get it'. Kimkins makes wonderful sense - low carb, low calorie, low fat. No cutsie 'low carb snack foods'. Kimkins suppresses your appetite beautifully and is very successful. kimkins dot com

6. I have been on just about every "diet" in existence...with the exceptions of the really expensive ones.
Recently I stumbled across a weight loss program that is the best one I've tried and is absolutely free. I've never had such an easy time counting calories, carbs, proteins, etc. The website does it all. It is called "SparkPeople.com" and I heartily recommend it to anyone who's trying to lose weight in a sane, healthy manner and have fun in the proccess. The site offers different groups to post on, various types of exercise and wonderful recipes and all for nothing. You owe it to yourself to at least check it out.

8. I started eating by a new rule, but a rule that has worked for the human race for millions of years. Eat only what can be grown (potatos, carrots, etc.) or killed (cows, chickens, etc). I have seen my own results. 181 lbs to 164 lbs. in less than 20 days. I only drink water, coffee, or juice ( make sure it is juice and not a container of sugar and artifical junk). Wheat bread and Cherrios are the only things I eat that has to "be made". Just to let you know I have only excercise for the past three days so the eating style is really what has done so much for me. The energy you get from the foods is amazing as well. Try it for a month...or two weeks. If you don't see a result then really nothing lost right..another "diet" that didn't work. I promise..it will work.

9. i did the portion diet; yes it sounds crazy but i have a big plastic spoon that you would cook with and that is my portion and a glass of water for dinner every now and again a coke or tea; no sugar with my coffe; i use another sweetner and low fat or no fat cream if i want that; and yes i do cheat just like we all do; and i am disabled and over weight all my life and i lost a 160 lbs in a year just by portioning my food and my water intake and less soduim; cause the more the soduim the more the water retain. i still struggle from time to time and need a few more lbs off me; but im getting there.hope this helps someone

10. The best program I have seen by far is Weight Watchers. I am a very picky eater and this allows me to continue to eat what I want,of course in moderation. I have lost 29lbs in 10 weeks. Weight Watchers is not a diet but a lifestyle change because you will need to take what you learned and apply it for life. I highly recommend this program! It is much less expensive than Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem and there are no foods to purchase that you wouldn't already buy. It's great!

11. Perhaps it is not so much as diet or not to diet. The American View on weight and dieting is disgusting. Certainly, there is nothing wrong with getting healthy. But at what expense are we going to try it? It seems that many diets fail becuase we are pummeled with ideals that are not us. Want that perfect body? Why not try to love the one you were given? We should not be spending billions on fads and pills that work short term when we shouol be spending it on trying to healthier and cheaper food for those us who can't always afford those options.

12. This might sound unfair, but the only time I tried going with a structured diet program, I chose LA Weightloss. OH MY GOODNESS! That is EXPENSIVE! Before I even began the program, they demanded like $500! They needed a lab fee, a sign up fee, a program fee, a fee fee, another fee and just one more to make it feel right. They make you buy supplements and food or else they make no guarantees. Needless to say, I canceled my program and got my money back.
I've lost a lot of weight recently by disciplining myself. This means eating less, especially on days when I don't work out. Losing weight is NOT easy, but it's not the hardest thing in the world, either. You have to really want it for yourself, not for anyone else. Losing weight probably won't make people like you more or get you a promotion at work.

14. I have lost weight on the Sacred heart diet...its similar to the cabbage soup, but I think more variety. I had a lot of energy for some reason...the only problem,,,I do lift weights and it is not much protein. Mostly fruti and veggies until the 6th day when you re intrduce meat. I generally lost about 5 pounds a week on this diet.

15. Want to lose weight? STOP using your microwave! Microwaves kill all the enzymes in your food... Microwaves nuke your food (Not Good)and creates DEAD FOOD that your body stores as FAT!
It does not burn it as fuel!
Eat with in one hour of getting up in the morning. And eat only clean protien and complex carbs! Eat every 3 hours if possible.
I have lost 35 lbs in the last 3 month doing all of the above!
Once you get started it easy...

17. As the lady said... eat less calories, is very true. Exercise, and try to eat healthy. Why pay someone else to tell you what to do, you should already know. If you return to old habits, the weight will be back... simple as that.

18. I lost 47 pounds using the Self Diet Club (selfdietclub.com) Costs $14.99 to subscribe to Self magazine, they you can log into the website and use it. It gives menu ideas, execise ideas, and gives calorie, fat, protein, and carb counts. Beware, it is a diet based on eating less and exercising. If you want an easy fix, or have no willpower, this isn't for you. It teaches portion control and healthy eating. I've kept the weight off for two years, lowered my cholesterol and blood pressure. Good luck!

19. I have been on the Isagenix Nutritional Cleansing plan for 3 months now. I have lost a total of 12 pounds and I feel fantastic. My best friend lost 12 pounds in 18 days. I have cut down on my total caloric intake and work out at least 4 times a week--cardio, strength and weight training, and I also am learning how to play racketball. I do not eat fast food but I am still able to enjoy a night or two eating at restaurants. I just watch what I order now AND I drink lots and lots of water. We should all be drinking half our weight in ounces of water (i.e., 120lbs should be drinking 110 ounces of water). Anyone interested in more information can check out my website www.chrisholguin.isagenix.com and email me.

20. I've tried some deits with little results,my doctor even put me on some meds, there is only one way to truely lose weight and that is to completely change your life style and get away from all the things that made you overweight in the first place. The best thing that happened to me was going to China, it took me away from all the things that were always there. The first three weeks I was in China with out any workouts, and going out to eat alot with new freinds I took two inches off my waist, even though i'm home I've taken alot of lessens from the lifestyle in China and applied them here in the states and i'm still keeping the pounds of
