I just tried logging on to Michael Vick's official Web site to see if he's made an official statement about his latest plea deal. Instead, I got a nice error message that 'the server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit.' I guess I'm not the only one interested in checking out the latest on the Falcon QB!With his plea deal, Vick can be sentenced for up to five years in prison and fined $250,000. However, AP reported that prosecutors will recommend 12 to 18 months of prison time, according to an anonymous government official.
Animal right advocates hope that Vick's case increases awareness about animal cruelty. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals spokesperson mentioned that they're getting leads on other cases. They are also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in dogfighting. The American Kennel Club is concerned that Vick's punishment is inadequate, while the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals praises the U.S. Attorney's office and the USDA for sending a clear message to those engaged in animal cruelty.
As a Virginia Tech alumna, I'm upset about this whole case. I can only name a handful of Virginia Tech football players who have made it big in the NFL, and Vick is one of them. It's embarrassing and disappointing that a superstar has done such terrible things. He has brought shame on himself, his family, his fellow alumni and his fellow athletes. I hope that he NFL doesn't let him play in the league anymore.
While the NFL continues its own investigation, many people wonder if Vick will play in the league again. I personally think that his career is over. Even if he continues playing in the NFL, what company would want to endorse him? It's just a PR nightmare. What do you think?

1. He need to be treated just like he treated those poor dogs. Vick is one disgusting nobody. Obviously, he had no raising. And any man or woman that would kill an animal would kill a person. Let's put him in one of those rape contraptions, or throw water on him and run him into an electric fence. And I could actually think of worse things. But I am sure he will go to one of those country club prisons. But he is quite the pretty boy. He may be in for more than he can handle.

2. Michael Vick is disgusting, at best! I sincerely hope that he never plays football again and that his career is over...I also hope that all companies that have endorsed him pull their endorsements. He deserves a harsher punishment, more prison time. What he did is unthinkable and unhuman. He is lower in morals then most animals.

3. His career should be over. What he did was needless, disgusting, pathetic, cowardly, unmanly, inhumane, immoral and anyone who stands by him on this or backs him is the same. He's a disgrace to all and everything. I and my friends have stopped buying from those who endorse him and will continue to do so if ties are not broken. If there was truly justice, what he did to those poor defenseless, innocent, unsuspecting animals would be done to him without one bit of remorse and those that participate in such a pitiful disgusting "sport". If they're that into it, they should suit up and go into the bit one on one.

4. I for one would NOT support any football team that would offer Michael Vick employment. His and his friends treatment of innocents who cannot defend or protect themselves is one disgusting demonstration of depravity. 12 to 18 months and a fine are not enough punishment for one participating in this sorry, sickening conduct.

6. It is a shame that any sports professional would do something so cruel. He and other sport professionals should be required to set the highest standard of conduct both on the sport field/court and off. they are setting an example to the younger generations and such conduct as this and brawling and gunfights or drug abuse should not be tolerate and when caught stripped all fame and denied any more chances to be a PROFFESIONAL SPORT FIGURE. those who control the rights of these sport profesionals must and do draw the line of behavior acceptable as a role model for our younger generations so they will have no desire to be just like these poor examples role models.

10. wow this subject hits so close to my heart. Michael Vick is such an idiot!! whats the point in fighting dogs??? its not entertaining, I wish the outcome of this case would come out the way any other dog fighters would, with a maximum sentance. but i highly doubt that..... but as long as he gets somewhat punished over this incedent i'll be happy with life. maybe he'll get his salad tossed when he goes to jail... =)
