Winehouse and West Dominate Grammys

Amy WinehouseThe nominees for the Grammy Awards were announced yesterday. Kanye West snags eight nominations while Amy Winehouse snags six.

I wonder if Amy Winehouse gets the nominations because of the attention that she has been getting in the tabloids, but her 'Back to Black' album did sell 1.3 million copies in the U.S. Among the nominations that she receives are Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Best New Artist, Song Of The Year and Best Female Pop Performance. By the way, what is the difference between record of the year and album of the year? And why do we still call it 'record?' I myself have never seen a record player in my life!

Sorry to digress, back to the Grammy nominations ... I'm disappointed that one my favorite artists, Corinne Bailey Rae, only gets nominated for one category (Song Of The Year). And am I the only one who doesn't like the song 'Hey There Delilah?' It must be, since it's also nominated for Song Of The Year. I just think it sounds so depressing.

While we're waiting to see if Amy Winehouse will make it to the ceremony, check out the full list of Grammy nominees on Spinner.com.
