d have given you a blank stare with the mention of the name Chris Crocker. But all of these names emerged in 2007 to be ones everybody recognizes. Since 2007 was a year that made so many accidental celebs appeared on AOL Search, I thought it would be interesting to make a list of all of these names. It is always fun to recap and reminisce as the year ends.
OK, Kardashian is not as obscure as some of the people who made our list, but 2007 was definitely her break out year. The bootylicious socialite made headlines for everything from dating Reggie Bush to posing for 'Playboy.' Eventually all of this publicity landed her a reality TV gig with 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians.' '07 propelled Kim from obscure rich girl into a family name.
We also see both of the Malakars make the top ten list this year. It is really interesting to me that with all the Sanjaya fever, his sister still got more searches than he did. Maybe it was the rumor of her naughty online pics? Both were cut from 'Idol' but they still stole a piece of our hearts.
Lots of viral video stars made our list. Remember Crazy Chris Crocker asking us to "Leave Britney Alone"? There was also Obama Girl and her tribute to Barack. I honestly did not understand the whole Chocolate Rain craze, but he also makes our top ten.

Plus a beautiful exterior appearance and I'm sure, a great heart. Truly readers, Kim Kardasian had it all. But she had to go out and blow it by taping an explicit sex tape with a way-below-her-level rapper
whom no one has heard of and then that tape get out to the worldwide market. Vivid Entertainment Knew a diamond in the ruff when they say it. The tape is every guys fantasy, yet it makes Kim look very very cheap. and I am here to write, she is not. but she really really blew it. she is a lady, who got caught up in the world of lust and sexual excitment.
This is the only reason E picked up the show, the only reason she is in Playboy and the only reason she is famous and the ONLY reason she will ever be remembered. The tape sold to millions and they see her with a homie who is so very very "street." So it makes it impossible to understand how such a beautiful girl could let a thug like that have her body. oh kim, while you could care less about my opinion, I feel so sorry for you. You will always be remembered as the beautiful girl looking Egyptian girl, who ruined her life, by taping a sex scene with Not a movie star, but a low down homie that know one knows who displays an attitude as gettin' it from ya and it makes you look like a very foolish young lady. Honestly Kim my friend, I would love to know you and be your friend and ask you, What were you thinking?

20. I haven't read this article beyond the headline, lead in paragraph and the list of names. Other than the air headed chick from the beauty pagent (whose name I don't know), I don't know ANY of these people.
This is another example of the mindless obsession we have with pop culture and meaningless nonsense. If the crap I read as online headlines is any indication we are fast becoming the most superficial society on the planet. All we care about is materialism and consumption, meaningless personalities from these clowns to OJ to Britney who contribute nothing except the daily helping of sickness that the media spoon feeds us.
In the meantime, while we are high on this sick candy our world is slowly and in some cases not so slowly falling apart. Some of us pay lip service to the world around us - this mind numbing war, our self serving and corrupt politicians in both parties, and our declining place in the world as more than half us still run around pretending we are the greatest nation and the greatest people in the world in parades of ugly mind boggling jingoism and xenophobia.
Meanwhile still a small percentage of us look up to acknowledge issues like the environment, resource shortages, the nightmares of oppression and poverty that exist in places throughout the planet; issues we have been told about in some cases for years now, but since it doesn't affect our day in day out lives, we pay it no mind en masse.
We have to turn off primetime tv, close out Youtube, pass on the online porn, put away the credit cards, get our thumbs off the blackberries, the latest iPods, high def experiences and get off the cell phone and put our hands back on the wheel and wake up before it's too late. It's like the early days in the fall of Rome. The consequences of our unexamined lives will be dire.
