during the holidays. Yuck! But what better time to get things into gear and really start getting into shape but the beginning of 2008?I have been looking into getting some kind of home gym equipment for my place. That way there is no excuse to not work out. And I figure if it is at my house I wont ever have to "go to the gym" ... the gym will come to me! What a great idea. I know that searches have been up for home gym equipment with the New Year so I decided to see what people were looking for on AOL Search.
Naturally the first search on our list is for treadmills. This could be a good option but I kind of prefer the elliptical or a stepper. People are also searching for the Bosu which seems pretty fun and for different kinds of weights to get themselves in shape.
Planning on getting a home gym this year? Try searching for gym equipment on AOL Search or you can check out AOL Shopping to see what deals you can find.
Top Searched Gym Equipment on AOL Search:
1. Treadmill
2. Elliptical
3. Exercise ball
4. Rowing machines
5. Stepper
6. Weight bench
7. Bosu
8. Dumbbells
9. Free weights
10. Yoga mats

1. There are numerous studies that show that exercising in 30 minutes or less can get you amazing results - and you can do these types of workouts at your own home with little or no equipment (i.e. using your own bodyweight). For exercises and routines you can do in 30 minutes or less check out http://www.xpressworkouts.com They even have some free examples!

2. All I know is I won't workout at home. I have about $7,000 worth of equipment. At home I have too many distractions. I go to the gym right after work! No going home or I won't go back out to the gym or workout at home.

3. I absolutely LOVE working out at home. You really don't need a lot of equipment to get a great workout and you can do it when its convenient for you. Recently I had the opportunity to become a coach for an online fitness community and it has been awesome putting all those years of being a home fitness junky to good use! http://www.gamefacefitness.com

4. I take pilates 2x/wk and work out on my own at home, especially cardio when you have a dog that needs to be walked daily, on body sculpting and pilates video and have a treadmill and stairstepper that I use regularly. I just turned 50, am the mother of 20 yr. old triplet girls (who were conceived naturally due to my "advanced age at first conception")and am in better shape than I have ever been in my entire life. I weighed 150 lbs (on a 5'2" frame) in college and had a friend enncouraged me to try to run with her (we were 21). I started out at 2 blocks and ended up at 5 miles. The weight just dropped off. I also began to eat right and truly believe this combination-move and eat right-is the key to fitness. I have many friends my age and younger who are on many different prescription drugs for many different ailments due to the fact that they do not take care of their bodies. Make time for yourself and eat right (the old 4 food groups is now the 5 food pyramid). your body is a machine that must be nurtured. You must make the commitment to eat right and, more importantly, MOVE.

5. I am a single mom of a chubby one year old and do not have the time to go to a gym..okay and also I am lazy. I LOVE working out at home. I have The firm tapes which are okay. As I have a small house I don't have any large pieces of equipment.
I have a jump rope, a work out ball, some free weights.
I wear smartsole insoles that I read about on aol that you put in your sneakers to increase intensity of workout. They are under $30 bucks and tone muscles and are fab-u-lous http://www.smartsole.com
I also have an exercise bike that is small and compat that I bought at sears http://www.sears.com Sears home brand for simple exercise bikes are fantastic...cheap and sturdy.
I used to try to do butt clenches while online at the super market to get in extra exercise as I had read that Kate Hudson did that to get back in shape after she had her kid. All I have to say is she must be nuts and I rather read the gossip rags then!

7. I'm a "bootstraps" republican and since I don't have weights at home, I lift my heavy guitar amplifier head in many ways and get stronger every session. I do the "300" workout using that and two high tables next to each other for doing dips as well as my basement support beams for pull ups. Here's to smart people.

8. I have been running for almost 40 yrs. but I had a cardiac situation....not an attack they say....and was in a coma for 7 days....prayers + my conditioning led me to better health....I no longer run 5 miles....just 1 and walk 3...four times a week.
Nothing like good luck and 5 bypasses for a better and longer life. I'm 73! Easy does it....

9. To No. 8: I no longer run either, AND DO NOT THINK ANYONE SHOULD RUN START RUNNING AFTER AGE 30. I just walk for cardio and it is so much better for my 50 yr. old body. That is why I think the key is to move (and eat right). You have to adjust exercise for your age-you do not have to adjust anything if you eat start eating right from age 21 (or whatever age you start). KEEP WALKING AND GOOD HEALTH WISHES TO YOU FOR LIFE!

10. My best workout is outside when the weather permits. No fancy stuff, just me and nature. Trails, running and yes, I do use my mountain bike. I also eat well and take my supplements daily. those are my investments. www.thebetterhealthcollection.com
