I am kind of a perpetual hypochondriac. My friends make fun of me because I'm constantly looking up symptoms for things online. After over a year of blogging about what people search for, I know I am not the only one who does this. People are constantly going online to learn more about health topics. Last month I did a post on women's health topics so I thought that it would only be fair to talk about the health topics that men are searching for as well. There are some interesting things that came up in our results. Since I am not a man, I was not really versed in what a lot of these topics are. I have definitely learned a lot today!
The #1 search that came up was for prostate cancer. I know that this is a really big health issue. Men are searching for everything from ulcerative colitis to prostatitis to hair loss. They also want to learn more about vasectomies and indigestion.
Is there a health topic that you go online to learn more about? If you think that you are experiencing any of these health issues you should go see your doctor. You can also learn more by searching for men's health on AOL Search or going to AOL Health for information.
Top Searched Men's Health Topics on AOL Search:
1. Prostate cancer
2. Urinary tract infection
3. Ulcerative colitis
4. Hair loss
5. Vasectomy
6. Premature ejaculation
7. Insomnia
8. Impotence
9. Prostatitis
10. Indigestion

24. Grow up boys -- just as women must do breast exams yearly, so should all men have their prostates checked. As in breast cancer, prostate cancer when found too late is a lot more difficult to deal with than a doctor's office exam. Surgeries 15 years ago were more devastating with side affects than present medical options.

25. Why is it that every blog attracts another sales pitch from everyone to sell everything? Please can't we just get some information without someone trying to reach into our wallet?

26. What is truly amazing and curiously alarming about this list is that Ulcerative Colitis is number 3. on the list behind only Prostate Cancer and Urinary Tract Infection!! As I have suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for years, I am wondering why it is apparently so common today when in the past it was relatively unknown to the average American male, and uncommon, to say the least, relative to the other conditions on the list. Exactly what is it in our environment, diet or health care (immunizations, use of antibiotics, etc.) that has produced such apparent radical increase in its prevalence? And if its prevalence hasn't actually increased, then what has produced such expressed interest in what has always been a relatively uncommon condition!?

29. AOL might consider a men's theme opening page as a customer choice when they sign on. Today's posting on male health is "right on." Men are reluctant to discuss health and sellness issues. Sharing concerns would save lives. Most important awareness and sharing lead to an improved quality of life.

31. Today's posting regarding the top ten male health concerns is revealing. America on Line and other providers might take the lead by providing a welcome page for men; as they have done for other sectors of our population. Men are reluctant to discuss specific health concerns. Providing a welcome page for men will encourage greater knowledge, save lives, and improve the quality of live.

32. Gentlemen - please know ALL your options for prostate cancer. My husband was just recently treated for prostate cancer with Proton Beam Therapy. There are 5 centers currently in the US. The urologist will want to do surgery, the radiation oncologist will want to do radiation. If you want to have a much easier time during treatments and still retain your urinary and sexual functions, do yourself (and your wife) the favor of checking on this modality that has been successfully treating prostate for over 16 years. Here is a site that will link you to others as well. www.floridaproton.org

33. Thank you Bruce for all the information. If I may ask, where did you get all this information? You seem to be very well informed. I guess I forgot to mention that my Testosterone Test came back low. They wanted to start me on Androderm Patches(5mg daily)and Depo Testosterone Injections(150mg-1.5ml into the gluteal muscle every 2 weeks. But I'm afraid to do this without more information. And so far I haven't found any good information to change my mind. I don't know what to do. Anymore advice Bruce or anyone else? Are toy an expert of some kind? I would like to hear back from you. Thank you. LouHawk1960.

34. I have yet to talk to my Dr. so can anyone tell me why a 47 year old male would quit having orgasms? And the very few times I do, I don't ejaculate. I reach the moment of an orgasm but at that time then it's over. My prostate exam was ok and the PSA test came back great. Any answers?
