Have you ever thought of starting your own business? Starting a business from scratch can be very difficult. Luckily there are people out there who have already done the R&D and are willing to sell their business plans for a fee. Believe it or not, a McDonalds franchise maybe easier to manage than a non-franchise business.
I have a girlfriend who bought into the Subway franchise. For a set price, the franchise gave her a brand name that is already well known, helped her hire employees and trained her on how to make her business profitable. Sounds like a great deal.
As always there are a few cons to buying a franchise. Since you don't own the brand name, you have to pay royalty payments each year. You are obligated to follow uniform operating procedures and start up costs can be a lot higher than starting your own non-franchise business.
Although the idea of being your own boss and owning a business does sound tempting. Not sure I'm ready to take the 'owning a business' plunge.
Do you own a franchise? Which do you think would be the most profitable? Try searching for franchises on AOL Search or check out AOL Money for investment tips.

3. I was burned in a big way by a franchise company that I invested in about 5 years ago. I am still paying the price with my losses. The company assured me that the location was golden and would be perfect based on the demographics of the area. they assured me that there would be no other locations within a 15 mile radius, but another set up shop 8 miles away. the contracts didnt have radius clauses in it- my foolish mistake. I lost over $200,000 and that was my life savings. I am starting over now. I am working a regular 9-5 job that gives me benefits to keep myself sane and pay the bills, but I do miss being my own boss though. I went to a meeting that an aquaintaince held about a new multi level marketing company that focuses on health and wellness. That is right up my alley (the old business was a fitness company). She showed us her rise in her weekly paychecks over the last 4 months ( I saw the actual stubs) and most of her income was derived from the sale of supplements, not so much with signing up people to sign up people. The investment seemed reasonable-$50 to start up and about $100 a month required purchases or sales to stay active). I could sell supplements to anyone - I am taking the supplements for the moment to be sure I believe in them and they work. So far I am thrilled with the energy booster/weight loss product and the vitamins are good! If this was one of those wonder drinks I would say no way, but I have been researching the products and they are sound and smart with all of the nutrients and vitamins we need daily with more that can only make us better and stronger. The company is Health 4 Wealth. I will be signing up next week after my training in Atlantic City this weekend. I will be seeing first hand if there are real stories by talking to others who are in the company at this meeting. I am doing my homework this time. If anyone wants a true and smart company to get into, I would say look into this one. Be smart and ask a lot of questions like I did. The site that my friend is set up on is http://www.health4wealth.com/zylenebody

5. I work full time as an accountant, but my true love is bargain shopping (whose isn't). I recently found online mall that gives you back money when you shop. You can give the mall away to friends and family and you get a percentage of what they spend as well. It costs NOTHING to join and I have started to get checks for a few hundred every month.
Not enough to quit my job just yet.
There are over 1000 stores including Old Navy, Sephora, Apple, The Gap, Target (great for soo
much),Macy's Shoebuy and bluefly, Best Buy. I also wait for sales so I get my cash
back and the lowest price. The site is kinda ugly but well worth it.

6. I have always wanted my own business, but have never had the money that most franchises require. My goal was to find something that I can do part time while I keep my job as an x-ray tech, take care of my family, work at it on off hours and not spend a cent. I signed up for the online mall just like Emma and it has definitely been worthwhile. Even if I did not sign anyone up I stil would make out as I get cash back on all my purchases.
You can also check it out at http://www.dailyoink.com.
She is right ths site is not particularly attractive.

10. This is not the time to go into any business. Beware we are in recession and unless your business has to do with a needed item you will lose alot of money in the next couple of years. Everyone is watching theri money NOT spending it. It will be an uphill battle with skyrocketing costs. The only businesses that are doing well are established ones all the new ones are doomed for now. Don't listern to those salesmen they don't care all they care about is the sale. BEWARE NEW BUSINESSES maybe in a couple of years but not now.

16. I too have started my own company, and I get to work from home. When you're in the Public Relations industry, it's pretty simple to start your own LLC and commit to your own work schedule, doing everything from home, planning events, etc. I have to say though, as much as I love the perks, it's grueling, the responsibility is all on you, you don't have the benefit of being a part of an established business where you get health benefits, 401K, and a team to help you out. You also work more than you would anywhere else, whether you work alone or have 3-4 employees. Yes, you have freedom, but the results can be devastating if you don't have enough clients.
I think in this day and age, everyone has so many ideas and big aspirations and it's wonderful to take the leap and try it out for yourself. It may not work for everyone, but at least you attempted to control your own life.
