My neighbor recently bought the cutest little Beagle the other day. Buddy (the puppy) is really cute and after playing with him for over an hour, I realized it might be time to get a puppy. Then I thought back to my childhood and remembered how much work it was for my parents to raise a dog. I'm not certain I am ready for that yet. But I thought it would be interesting to find out what types of dog people are searching for.As you can see Chihuahuas are at the top of our list. Is it because the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world? They usually weigh around two to three pounds as adults. Yes, those are the dogs that you see popping out of certain celebs handbags. Other small dogs include pugs and Yorkshire terriers. I think pugs are so cute with their wrinkly faces, although they do tend to breathe loudly and are very hyper.
Did you know that poodles are one of the most popular breeds in the world and are a symbol of elegance? Poodles are available in many different colors and come in three different sizes: miniature, standard and toy.
The Siberian husky -- known as the sled dog --and golden retrievers are very popular family dogs because of their friendly and patient demeanor. German shepherds ,on the other hand, were originally bred for herding sheep are now favorites for law enforcement and the disabled.
As you can see each breed has its own set of specialties. Are you a dog owner or getting ready to purchase a puppy? If so what's your favorite breed? If you don't see it on the list try searching for dog breeds in AOL Search.

4. Where are the dachshunds on this list? Can't believe a Chihuahua made it over a dachshund or another popular breed like Beagle or Golden Retriever.

5. I have two Cocker Spaniels (mill releases), one Collie (dumped at shelter), one Beagle (found on road), one English Springer Spaniel (dumped for being old and blind) and am currently fostering another ESS, dumped for being deaf (actually ear infection) and having bad hips (which are in better shape than mine). Until all dogs in shelters and rescue find homes, no dogs should be bred.

15. If anyone has the privilege to own a
Cairn Terrier, native to Scotland, they will simply love the look, love and devotion of this 20 pound wonderful little dog. I have owned Maggie May for 10 years now and I have never seen so much as a sneer. The tail never stops wagging. Not one bad thing to say about this breed.

20. I have had several loving dogs as pets over the years and am now thinking about an Irish Worfhound. But never have I had a smarter dog than a Border Collie! They are the smartest of all breeds. It's been documented! Even National Geographic has included them in an article in this month's magazine. But they do needs LOTS of room and time for exercise or they can make your life-and home-rather unpleasant. They have that much energy that needs to burn! Smart AND loyal!
