My neighbor recently bought the cutest little Beagle the other day. Buddy (the puppy) is really cute and after playing with him for over an hour, I realized it might be time to get a puppy. Then I thought back to my childhood and remembered how much work it was for my parents to raise a dog. I'm not certain I am ready for that yet. But I thought it would be interesting to find out what types of dog people are searching for.As you can see Chihuahuas are at the top of our list. Is it because the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world? They usually weigh around two to three pounds as adults. Yes, those are the dogs that you see popping out of certain celebs handbags. Other small dogs include pugs and Yorkshire terriers. I think pugs are so cute with their wrinkly faces, although they do tend to breathe loudly and are very hyper.
Did you know that poodles are one of the most popular breeds in the world and are a symbol of elegance? Poodles are available in many different colors and come in three different sizes: miniature, standard and toy.
The Siberian husky -- known as the sled dog --and golden retrievers are very popular family dogs because of their friendly and patient demeanor. German shepherds ,on the other hand, were originally bred for herding sheep are now favorites for law enforcement and the disabled.
As you can see each breed has its own set of specialties. Are you a dog owner or getting ready to purchase a puppy? If so what's your favorite breed? If you don't see it on the list try searching for dog breeds in AOL Search.

681. Wow, I'm really surprised No One Has mentioned the ultimate dog. A Mi-Ki. It's non-shedding and non-alergic breed. A toy dog that is great for traveling, or as a condo-high rise companion. They can easily be trained for a cat box too. The most appealing is the are not a yippy, barking dog. Try http:www.FLYERS-Mi-Ki.com. You will be facinated by this breed.

683. I'm a cat owner, but I love most dog varieties, especially the Bichon Frieze. I love all kinds of puppies and kittens, but they are a huge responsibility and can cost a lot of money to raise and keep healthy. My cat is now 15, has one tooth left and needs medication twice a day for her hyper thyroid, so think twice before you committ yourself to many years of care

689. I owned a toy poodle. He was what they call a Parti poodle (two colors). There is also a 4th size of poodles called a Teacup, which is even smaller than a toy. My poodle's parents were Silver Gray (silver grays are born black). Mine was born black and white and later the black turned to silver gray but the white remained white. A Vet told me they were very rare and I was often given offers to buy him, but he was never for sale.

690. The little dynamo of all breeds is the Scottish Terrier. The breed has been 'Best in Show" most often at Westminster, in addition to being the most popular "First Dog" of presidents.
Loyal, trusting, quizical, loving and very animated; he is the dog of Christmas in his bright red plaid.
I have three; two blacks and a wheaten.

691. I have 2 maltese - my sister has 2 maltese - my girlfriend has 2 maltese - once you've owned one you'll never go back. They are the most adorable, lovable, get-along-with everyone. When we all get together we look like we are herding sheep. Love, love, love them to pieces!!!! I've also owned big dogs but these little ones are so cuddly. My sister that has the 2 maltese - 5 lbs each also has a rottweiller - quite a sight when she walks them all!

694. Ah, my favorites are Pekingeses. I have had two of them...the first a tri-color and the second a standard fawn. Absolutely wonderful dogs. Bonded closely to both. The second one lived to be eighteen years old! Lots of loving care...and lots of chicken. How I miss Rainbeau and Maggie. I cannot walk dogs in the winter now, so I have a 3-year old cat: Tabu. First thing she taught me was: I am not a dog.

I agree I have had 2 dogs i needed to board both got the kennel cough shot , One came down with it right before we were leaving on a cruise , so could not go down to the kennel we have to have her locked up at the vets to get her well , The other one i got her shot about 3 months before we left , and when we picked her up she still had kennel cough , To me it is a total rip off , They told me well they can still get it , just not has bad ? So it still cost be several hundred for drugs and care for several weeks, Also if you like Cats I had to Siamese cats ,, very smart , understand after awhile what you are saying , and they talk and answer you , of course in cat talk lol

697. I'd have to say Boxers and the dreaded pitbull are my fave dogs. I had an ex boyfriend who had adopted Buddy, a, than, 4 year old female Pit/boxer mix who was the most wonderfull dog I had ever seen. It was because of her that I got Duke, my currently 4 year old Brindle Boxer who is my best friend ( well other than the cats of corse ). Though he's not a good gard dog, he's wonderfull when I have kids over. It's like haveing a second set of hands, and that comes in handy with a 1 year old and a 2 year old kids! I guess the only real fault I have with the breed is the slobberyness, but you take the bad with the good! If you are looking for a family dog that looks intimidateing, I think a Boxer would be good for you, just make sure they have pleny of room to run!
