My neighbor recently bought the cutest little Beagle the other day. Buddy (the puppy) is really cute and after playing with him for over an hour, I realized it might be time to get a puppy. Then I thought back to my childhood and remembered how much work it was for my parents to raise a dog. I'm not certain I am ready for that yet. But I thought it would be interesting to find out what types of dog people are searching for.As you can see Chihuahuas are at the top of our list. Is it because the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world? They usually weigh around two to three pounds as adults. Yes, those are the dogs that you see popping out of certain celebs handbags. Other small dogs include pugs and Yorkshire terriers. I think pugs are so cute with their wrinkly faces, although they do tend to breathe loudly and are very hyper.
Did you know that poodles are one of the most popular breeds in the world and are a symbol of elegance? Poodles are available in many different colors and come in three different sizes: miniature, standard and toy.
The Siberian husky -- known as the sled dog --and golden retrievers are very popular family dogs because of their friendly and patient demeanor. German shepherds ,on the other hand, were originally bred for herding sheep are now favorites for law enforcement and the disabled.
As you can see each breed has its own set of specialties. Are you a dog owner or getting ready to purchase a puppy? If so what's your favorite breed? If you don't see it on the list try searching for dog breeds in AOL Search.

701. #105 ----the best dog I have ever had I got at the boxer rescue,105 must not understand that the dog has most likely been trough things that a human could not handle. So give these sweet babies a break, they just need time to know that they can trust you! Looks like #105 needs to improve their way of thinking,a dog can read you. Soooo maybe the problem is the person and not the dog. My rescue boxer was beat, ears cut(not by a vet) and was very scared when we took him home, but he came out of his shell on his own time, not ours!! So take time, show love and the return will be like hitting the lottery! rest in peace freckles thanks for the best 8 yrs a dog could give his family

702. 406. If you want a dog that loves to meet people, loves to be loved, does shed, but other than that is so loving and adorable I have rescued many different types of breeds over the years but my CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL IS THE BEST DOG EVER!! No offense to my deceased doggies I thought could not be topped but she does things that surprise me everyday that are so sweet and make her loved that much more. She will steal a sock or shirt out of the laundry and put it in a circular shape and sleep on it. If I put the laundry where she cannot reach it she has been known to pull something out of it or if its an accident and she hits the jackpot and knocks it over she lies in the middle of the dirty clothes. Its like she feels secure if she has her Mommies scent near her. I have had a visitor at my home and she got the same way sleeping by their shoes when they dog sat and of course they thought she was the most adorable dog ever. She has never has an accident in the house and lets me know when she has to go outside. She has a strange habit of barking at birds and thinks her sole purpose is to stand on her hind legs dance around and get as close to the sky/birds as she can and bark them away from my home. When she hears dogs barking on TV she promptly "talks" back, when she hears birds chirping on TV she barks. Otherwise she is very quiet and just tells me when she wants to eat by a single bark or when she wants to go out side or get up on the bed she asks permission by standing on the doggie stairs, looks at me and barks once. Now, she was bought from a breeder in Florida and they are expensive and I rescued her from a family friend but she came to my home and adapted like I was the only owner she has ever had. She does snore and she is a ham. She loves her belly rubbed and will instantly turn over on her back when she sees people. She thinks that the world wants to love her and greets her guests with love and is a good dog to taking walking if you are single and you want to meet people as she will do the greeting as she will go up to all of the people for you and it will be genuine, she will be more interested in them than the dogs. She minds well and obeys me when I tell her no. I suspect if I had her since birth I could have taught her how to interact better with other animals than with just people. If you need joy in your life and do not want to pay a college tuition and have the time to spend with a dog when you are at home or someone at home to be with this dog then consider it. This breed does not do well alone and gets lonely.

705. I have had (mostly) dobermans; they make great family dogs. When my second dobie died, I adopted a dobie from a rescue shelter and she turned out to be one of the best dogs ever. As time went on and pups died, I have continued to adopt from the rescues. They really make the best pets!

706. I have always lived on a farm and my very faavorite dog is a sable & white collie. Over the years I have had about 10 collies all named Lucky. Our last one weighed 110 lbs. We also had a very small Shitsuh named Itsy Bitsy who slept between the collie's paws along with our yellow cat Tigger. Itsy did not shed, bark (only after going potty outside) for a treat. Our grandchildren rode on the collie's back. Our children have had several other breads but they all still love the collies best. They are wonderful, smart easily trained and very obediant.

709. Nothing beats an American Eskimo...they look like mini white chows and are too smart...mine are anyway..I have to spell around them to keep them from recognizing what I am saying...especially my first one..they look like baby seals when pups...too cute...but they will own and run you if you are not the right kind of owner..they are very intelligent..they don't get too big(med sized), and they live a long time...what personable dogs....they will play you for a fool if you're not careful..patient with kids, and will protect you and yours like a rabid animal...I love them and like other breeds, but they are now my favorite!

712. Akita. If you want a real dog, get an Akita. They were bred to hunt bear but they were used as babysitters in the mountains of Japan. I love my "baby." Athena is a 114 pound beautiful black and white brindle Akita.

714. The Westies are the best. I had one for 13 years he was a good companion but also liked his independence. So he wasn't a sissy needing you all the time. I just recently got a puppy and she is stealing my heart away now. Beagles are also a nice choice we have one of those too and she is a sweetheart. Have never had any trouble with either breed with either of my children. If you don't want alot of shedding hair the Westie is for you.

715. Ausstralian shepherds for me! I want a thinking dog. With the variety of skills and intelligence, after having different breeds and mixes for 50 years, Aussies are the best allaround fit.You can use them for agility, search and rescue, nursing homes, herding, and countless other hobbies.
The more you train and educate them, the smarter they become. What you put into them is what you get.GO AUSSIES!

717. We have a wonderful little Shih Tzu named Maxie.Maxie's have sister,Sable, died in January. She was 8 years old and always loved metal items. At Christmas we traveled a lot and at some point Sable swallowes 4 dimes and 2 pennies. We know this because the vet had to get them out of her.It was too late the pennies had poisoned her.Pennies are made mostly of zinc and if a dog is not able to pass them out of their bodies, the penny will start breaking down.We knew this and had tried to be so careful.Losing Sable almost destroyedme. She was such a loving lap dogand loved everyone. We love Maxie very much and I hate to think of her leaving us too. They become so much a part of your life. Please be careful and make sure all coins are out of your dogs reach.I don't want anyone to go through what we had to.

719. I own and have owned many breeds of dogs. All are unique in their own way. The Christmas I was ten I wanted (and got) a German Shepherd puppy. At 20 I got into Dobermans. Opened up a boarding/training kennel and bred Imported Shepherds for years, worked with all breeds. Right now...*many years later* .. I own a pit bull, a dobe, a German Shepherd, and a Mini Rat Terrier. ALL dogs are fantastic creatures who truly do give unconditional love.
