My neighbor recently bought the cutest little Beagle the other day. Buddy (the puppy) is really cute and after playing with him for over an hour, I realized it might be time to get a puppy. Then I thought back to my childhood and remembered how much work it was for my parents to raise a dog. I'm not certain I am ready for that yet. But I thought it would be interesting to find out what types of dog people are searching for.As you can see Chihuahuas are at the top of our list. Is it because the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world? They usually weigh around two to three pounds as adults. Yes, those are the dogs that you see popping out of certain celebs handbags. Other small dogs include pugs and Yorkshire terriers. I think pugs are so cute with their wrinkly faces, although they do tend to breathe loudly and are very hyper.
Did you know that poodles are one of the most popular breeds in the world and are a symbol of elegance? Poodles are available in many different colors and come in three different sizes: miniature, standard and toy.
The Siberian husky -- known as the sled dog --and golden retrievers are very popular family dogs because of their friendly and patient demeanor. German shepherds ,on the other hand, were originally bred for herding sheep are now favorites for law enforcement and the disabled.
As you can see each breed has its own set of specialties. Are you a dog owner or getting ready to purchase a puppy? If so what's your favorite breed? If you don't see it on the list try searching for dog breeds in AOL Search.

742. Siberian huskies are not guard dogs.No way. They are good family dogs but they must be confined at all times because they run off. They need oodles of exercise. If you are considering one, research well. Talk with good breeders. Only after extreme consideration if you still want one purchase one because they are truly a great companion. If you do not do this they end up in shelters.

744. German Shepherds rule!!
I've had many dogs over the years, mostly shelter dogs
a few beagles, a westie and I loved them all.
But 10 years ago my brother who lives in Texas surprised me with a german shepherd puppy for my birthday. Tracy was just an amazing dog- I actually had people stop their cars and come over just to see
her, including a few police officers see was just a georgous girl, unfortunately she was also a very sick girl due to the people who bred her, I later learned she was the only one of her litter that survived.
Even though she was sick for most of her 10 years she was such a wonderful girl that she hooked me on the breed. I now have a little 50lb shepherd
mix(shelter dog) and am planning to get her a playmate soon- guess what it's going to be

745. My favorite is a mixed breed. The best behaved and good mix is a golden lab and pug mix. Yes, that's what I have and he always gets looks and Ahhhhs. Keep your purebreds that cost money. We saved ours from the pound.

749. It bothers me, that people in the past have made such a bad name for American Pit bull/American staffordshire terriers...LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, these dogs are true friends (big mushes) My boy is the most friendly dog i've ever seen, he approaches every human/animal as a true friend....he was attacked by a black lab, and attacked by 2 Polmeranians....and both incident, he walked away, when he could have easily destroyed them, but these dogs don't have that aggresive dimeanor unless someone instills it in them.....give these poor love-bugs a chance, by the way they are also very smart, and I have young kids, the youngest being 3 and they have hurt him plenty of times and all he does is lick them in acceptance.

750. We recently adopted our second sheltie from Indiana Sheltie Rescue. His name is Gavin and he is the best and smartest dog we have had in our family. To top it off he is blind. You would not think he is blind for the way he finds his way in and out of the house. He is very loving and loyal dog and we are very thankful that rescue organazations like Indiana Sheltie Rescue are available to save many pets lives.
