My neighbor recently bought the cutest little Beagle the other day. Buddy (the puppy) is really cute and after playing with him for over an hour, I realized it might be time to get a puppy. Then I thought back to my childhood and remembered how much work it was for my parents to raise a dog. I'm not certain I am ready for that yet. But I thought it would be interesting to find out what types of dog people are searching for.As you can see Chihuahuas are at the top of our list. Is it because the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world? They usually weigh around two to three pounds as adults. Yes, those are the dogs that you see popping out of certain celebs handbags. Other small dogs include pugs and Yorkshire terriers. I think pugs are so cute with their wrinkly faces, although they do tend to breathe loudly and are very hyper.
Did you know that poodles are one of the most popular breeds in the world and are a symbol of elegance? Poodles are available in many different colors and come in three different sizes: miniature, standard and toy.
The Siberian husky -- known as the sled dog --and golden retrievers are very popular family dogs because of their friendly and patient demeanor. German shepherds ,on the other hand, were originally bred for herding sheep are now favorites for law enforcement and the disabled.
As you can see each breed has its own set of specialties. Are you a dog owner or getting ready to purchase a puppy? If so what's your favorite breed? If you don't see it on the list try searching for dog breeds in AOL Search.

61. I can't believe Dachshunds aren't on this list. They're playful, stubborn, loving, good watch dogs, and odor free. I have 4 and they're the smartest little guys.

62. All breeds are wonderful.....But first ... We need to focus on the shelter dogs. You can help get this over population under control. Please help rescue the animals in need of a loving home. If you have a breed that you absolutley love and have to have.....Go to that breeds rescue. Think about it.Please

63. We own and operate a small kennel. We breed and raise Chihuahua's, Yorkies, and Beagles. All three of these breeds are great family pets and are great for kids. The only problem being, the Yorkies and Chihuahua's have small bone structures, and can be seriously injured if a small child drops one. keep this in mind when buying a young puppy.

Not only are these members of the family, I all so like to show agility, obedience and conformation with the jack russell. We travel with the dogs and hunt with them. 78. Pugs rule! I have two pugs and they are the most fun dogs in the world. If it's not a pug, it's just a dog!!
Actually not all pugs are hyper. One of mine is hyper and one is not. They are both two years old. I bought the first pug I ever owned in 1994 and he was not hyper either.

80. To all those urging us to adopt and rescue rather than buy a purebred:
I felt I had no other choice because I was turned down by every single animal shelter in our area because I have 2 small children. It is ridiculous that they won't let people with children adopt, they'd rather the animal suffer in a cage at the shelter.
So, I just bought a 10 week old Dachshund, Nathan, and he is just wonderful, lots of work, but wonderful.
