My neighbor recently bought the cutest little Beagle the other day. Buddy (the puppy) is really cute and after playing with him for over an hour, I realized it might be time to get a puppy. Then I thought back to my childhood and remembered how much work it was for my parents to raise a dog. I'm not certain I am ready for that yet. But I thought it would be interesting to find out what types of dog people are searching for.As you can see Chihuahuas are at the top of our list. Is it because the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world? They usually weigh around two to three pounds as adults. Yes, those are the dogs that you see popping out of certain celebs handbags. Other small dogs include pugs and Yorkshire terriers. I think pugs are so cute with their wrinkly faces, although they do tend to breathe loudly and are very hyper.
Did you know that poodles are one of the most popular breeds in the world and are a symbol of elegance? Poodles are available in many different colors and come in three different sizes: miniature, standard and toy.
The Siberian husky -- known as the sled dog --and golden retrievers are very popular family dogs because of their friendly and patient demeanor. German shepherds ,on the other hand, were originally bred for herding sheep are now favorites for law enforcement and the disabled.
As you can see each breed has its own set of specialties. Are you a dog owner or getting ready to purchase a puppy? If so what's your favorite breed? If you don't see it on the list try searching for dog breeds in AOL Search.

121. I have bred and trained dogs and had many breeds. I concur with the comment about getting a dog from a shelter or rescue society. My Border Collie is the smartest and best behaved dog in the county. She is also my best friend for many reasons. Adopt a dog and treat it as you would a child, with love, patience and understanding. You will gain a friend for life.

123. I have had Beagles ever since I owned dogs. They are the most adorable, prescious puppies. And they are so affectionate and appreciative. I lost my 4th 18 year old bicolor,Cryssie, last May who at that age was pure white. She loved snow and her major 'funny' was her sniff as if she were a minivacume.I love the floppy ears which are the softest part of the breed and the usual white tip of the tail raised high like a flag. Some of them also point. She was always by my side and never ever bit. I could take a bone out of her mouth(not good for dogs). She loved to run after a ball. Everyone in my family loved her. They all said that she could be anyone's dog if I was careless about leashing her. Of course I wasn't. She was so special. These dogs--Ive had 4, bicolor Patches, tricolor Wendy(originally Windy for her sniffing the wind), tricolor, Penny named by my mom for the penny color she was-are the most gentle and loving and worth any possible training difficulty. They are said to be stubborn and hard to house break but not as I could tell--maybe when they are very old. Do not feed real meat. They can also get cancer. I was overjoyed that Beagles won the Best in Show recently. They love food but the dry keeps them from the negative health of being too fat. Most of all feed them with love, hugs, care and they will be 100% loyal to the end. Beware. When each one passes away it will be as one of the family was gone. A Beagle lover, Lyn Ps They are not loners and if no one is home all day they will be sad or bred and get into trouble like a little kid. Get 2 if you can. The puppies cry for about a week if all alone.Or get a nonferel kitten if both are socialized then they will get along and keep company.
Best Wishes for a joyous companioship.

124. I think the aggressive greyhound at the sound of the doorbell is an exception. My greyhounds become alert with a visitor at the door, but only because they are eager to welcome the visitor.
I have had two greyhounds for several years, and I have never heard one of them bark. The other one barks only when I am returning home.
Greyhounds are polite, gentle, grateful, and eager to please. As dogs go, greyhounds are the epitome of class.

125. I can't say enough good things about the Lhasa Aposo's I have two of them but if I could I would have twenty. They are the most wonderful loyal furry kids a person could ever ask for. They bring pleasure to all those arould them. They are a blessing and I could never be without one. They have some many wonderful qualities. What more could one ask for.

126. Alaskan malamutes are great. Ours is 2 and lets the 6 year old lay all over him. We would have a whole house full of them, if we had room.

127. I have 2 dachshunds right now and they are both special little dogs. I wouldn't trade either one for anything. But I have to say my favorite is the Tibetan Spaniel. We had one when we first got married that we got from the shelter (until recently we had always thought she was a mixed breed! Happened to see one on the dog show and was shocked!). She was definitely a great little dog! 200 pounds of dog in a 10 pound body! I only wish they weren't so hard to find and so expensive when I do find them!

130. I have an adorable schnauzer. They are so lovable and loyal. Best companion and friend I have ever had. Loves to cuddle and sleep with me all the time. No shedding and easy to train. Very cute personality.
She is named Dixie and I would never give her up.

131. PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE. MOST BUY FROM PUPPY MILLS. I HAVE TWO BICHONS AND FOSTER OTHERS FROM RESCUED PUPPY MILL DOGS. THE BEST DOG, A BICHON OF COURSE.

133. It is sad to see these little dogs (chihuahuas), dragged around by these selfish celebrities. I've had chihuahuas for many years and these are delicate but affectionate little dogs, not stuffed toys. People need to research the type of dog best suited to them otherwise it will make for unhappiness on the part of both animal and owner.

135. Doberman Pinschers Rawk... I'm won over on this breed and I've been around several nice breeds of dogs, from Collies, Samoyieds, Beagles, Poodles, Saint Bernards, Schnauzers, Greyhounds, Afghan Hounds..etc.
But also... just depends on how much room to run, fenced-in or not and the reasons why you want a pooch. I love my Dobie.... he's 8 yrs old now and probably not going to live much longer. He's been the smartest - but goofiest dog I've ever been around...and with much love and patience he's become a great citizen - lol. I will really miss him when he passes.

136. I have a Vizsla, 3 American Eskimos and 1 Boston Terrier. They have all come from reputable breeders who show and paticpate in dog sports. I do the same. I prefer the purebred dog.

138. Where are the Shih Tzus? For a toy breed you can't find one more loveable, affectionate, friendly, outgoing and good with kids. We also have a boxer pit mix that was dumped off in winter, she is a theif though, she stole our hearts. Then there is the old girl, a Neopolitan Mastiff, intimidating she may be but she loves her family.
