I have always found astrology very intriguing. What fascinates me the most is that the alignment of the stars can actually influence human lives. A person's personality can be affected by the position of the sun, stars, moon and planets at the time of their birth.There are twelve zodiac signs which are based on the constellations through which the Sun, Moon and planets transit across the sky. Your zodiac sign (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces) is based on the day you were born and is said to determine your personality traits. I have to admit, I enjoy reading my horoscope to find out what my day might be like.
The Chinese also have their own zodiac signs which are named after animals. The Chinese zodiac refers to a pure calendrical cycle, not to constellations. Another type of Chinese astrology is feng shui, which is the study of living in harmony and prosperity.

4. yeah the obscure movements of pockets of gas and dust in the galaxy has no effect whatsoever on your life. this is easily proven. if twins are born on the same day, but one dies and one lives to old age, then obviously despite having the same prediction their fates were totally different. please stop living in the dark ages.

5. One's belief in astrology and other divination methods depends on whether you believe "as above - so below." In other words, if you believe you are separate from the rest of the cosmos and determine your own fate, then you really don't care about astrology or other divination.
But if you believe you are connected to the universe - by the air you breathe, the water you drink, the earth you live on, the star you circle, and the galaxy you swim in, then you can see a connection between what goes on "out there" and what goes on in your life.

6. yeah no it doesent. you can easily believe you are connected to the universe and still see the total garbage in astrology. what does astrology do? it claims it tells you what you will be like and will predict your future depending what stellar objects are where when you are born. and that isnt true per my example above. you can personally believe whatever you want to, but astrology simply isnt true, its not debateable because it simply does not work. claiming something works when it doesent is either willful ignorance or perhaps something worse, gullibility perhaps?

11. Such a display of intelligence observable nowadays from skeptics,lol. No apologists are required to defend something pure and transient. Instead of focusing so much on astrology in terms of prophecy and prediction, maybe you should see it as a map of possibility and re-aligning ourselves with nature, god(or gods, esses, whichever way you put it), and the universal whole... ALL CYCLES IN NATURE and our COMPLETE SENSE OF TIME is based on ASTROLOGY. 7 days, 12 months--7 observable planets, the zodiac--- 4 divisions of the day, the cardinal elemental directions(compass rose an allusion to the rosy cross) 24 hours in a day, 2 segments, darkness and light--- 12 hours each--- The list goes on, but what do i know, i wasn't decorated at yale or princeton as "chief pompass mr/ms. know it all", hahaha. Theres nothing wrong with learning from the vast lessons astrology can teach, even astronomy or whichever. ALL IS KNOWLEDGE to be assimilated...

12. Typical western thinking! The position of the Sun, the Moon and the planets do not CAUSE anyone's personality. Real astrology is based on synchronisty and the belief that there is some order to this universe. One way of looking at that order is noticing cycles. Astrology is based on the cycles of these orbs, the day, and the year and is here to help people gain a sense of affirmation about themselves and their lives. A real astrological chart is simply one way of interpreting the energies at a particular time and place, thereby showing the patterns of energy with which a person comes into this world. We are not affected nor influenced by the stars, but astrology is a beautiful and amazing language to help us understand ourselves and others - again, giving us a sense of affirmation. Oh well - enough preaching. I just wish people knew the real astrology and not the pop notions that abound.

13. The comment about the "twins" being born at the same time, one dies and one lives to an old age. This is not a probable scenario at all. BECAUSE no twins are born at the exact same time ever! Even minutes or seconds apart (one baby comes out at a time)the two twins are already different than each other.
I have used astrology to manipulate my boss into good things...
To help with relations in everyday life. Once you kinda know what its about, It becomes more useful and interesting.

15. I must comment to mittens. You have to be talking about popular astrology, because real astrology does work. I often tell people I don't "believe" in astrology - as in I don't "believe" it is dark outside - it simply is. Astrology does work - I have seen thousands of charts and none of them were inaccurate - none! By the way, I am not ignorant nor gullible.

17. wow, your return comments arent very good. to jason, you propose all knowledge be assimilated, even knowledge that is wrong? to gail, you say i am wrong with my 'western' vision of how astrology works, perhaps you better actually define astrology and what it actually does, because all you said was quite vague. and despite the fact you claim not a single astrological chart you saw was incorrect, mind if i ask if you actually observe the movements of the stars yourself? do you know calculus so you can calculate stellar bodies movements acurattley? did u actually memorise each specific individual part of each individual chart to make sure each was the same? furthermore all you have to prove your point is you saying i am wrong and you are not. you know it is dark out because it is and darkness can be explained, can you do the same with astrology? if so please do it now. to lanny, it doesent actually matter if the twins are born seconds or minutes apart, because the movements of the stars are so minute from earth that there would be absolutely no visible difference, and even though we can track such things now, they couldnt when astrology was created, so thats bunk.
i have problems with ignorance, please excuse me if i offended you, but i personally take offense when people decide to become zealots for their cause without any ability whatsoever to back what they believe. i personally am a christian, and there is a big difference between belief in religion and creater gods and the belief that the movements of pockets of gas indefinatley deciding fates. forget twins, what about two entirely seperate people born on the exact same second in the exact same hospital and one having a completely different fate then the other? it takes very little to prove astrology is garbage and it is insulting to me that people could be so intentionally blind as to belief such bunk, for you see we were born with brains capable of much thought and knowledge, and seeing it wasted is quite terrible.

18. Anyone to belive that the horiscope or zodiac signs will tell the future or your day's events is dumb. People sit around and figure a vauge message about each sign, so it really isn't telling you anything. Live your life the way you want with a smile and that should be good enough...
