Almost every Sunday, NASCAR is one of our top searched terms. With so many people addicted to the sport, I thought it would be fun to find out who the top searched NASCAR drivers were.NASCAR has grown to become the second-most popular professional sport in terms of U.S. television ratings, ranking behind the NFL. Its 75 million fans are considered the most brand-loyal fans in all of sports and as a result, NASCAR has more Fortune 500 sponsors than any other sport.
I've never been to live race before but I have heard it's pretty amazing. I can imagine the adrenaline rush the drivers get speeding around the race course and trying to avoid crashing.
As you can see our top searched driver is Tony Stewart, who currently drives the No. 20 Toyota Camry and is sponsored by The Home Depot. Stewart made headlines this year after he allegedly punched another driver during a meeting with race officials.
Following Stewart is four-time champ Jeff Gordon, he drives the No. 24 Chevrolet Impala and his primary sponsor is DuPont. The late (but still immensely popular) Dale Earnhardt is fourth while current points leader Kyle Busch is seventh.
Did you favorite NASCAR driver make the list? If not, tell us about him or try searching for NASCAR on AOL Search. Don't forget to check out AOL Sports for the latest news on NASCAR.

121. Dale may be the best Nascar has seen, BUT Jr. should be on the list along with all of the other CURRENT drivers.
Whoever made up the list doesn't know NASCAR

122. GEODUCK before you start spouting off about how a driver isn't good enough because he hasn't won the 500, particularly JR, maybe you should check the stats so that you don't look like an idiot. As JR won the 500 in 2004.
I don't understand why people are so upset that Toyota is in the sport. At least Totoyas are made in the US and employee US citizens. Living in a state that is in economic ruin, in part thanks to GM and Ford closing plants, I see nothing wrong with a company that is creating jobs in our country, instead of Mexico or Canada, considering our consistently declining economy.

123. Bobby Allison was and still is my favorite. What a Gentleman! First last and always.

124. I THINK BOBBY GORDON AND RICHARD PETTY SHOULD EVEN BE ON THE LIST AND JIMMY JOHNSON SHOULD BE IN THIRD SPACE

126. The person who wrote this article not only hasn't been to a race but has probably never watched one on TV if they think dale jr is not by far the most popular driver. Just check out in field parking and read what driver has the most searches, or maybe its because we all know where to find him.

127. I THINK YOU SHOULD RECHECK YOUR NUMBERS!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT CARL EDWARDS GETS SEARCHED MORE THAN DALE EARNHARDT "JR". IT IS PRETTY OBVIOUS THAT YOU DON;T FOLLOW NASCAR, THE NUMBER FOUR SEARCHED DRIVER IS DALE EARNHARDT "JR", NOT HIS DAD. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. UNDER A LOG? I ALSO AM SHOCKED THAT ROBBIE GORDON IS SEARCHED AT ALL? I THINK EVERYTHING YOU HAVE WRITTEN IS MADE UP.
DO A LITTLE RESEARCH IN THE FUTURE WHEN WRITING ABOUT A TOPIC THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. WAKE UP AND GET OUT INTO THE FRESH AIR SWEETIE. I AGREE WITH NUMBER 16, NASCAR IS NO FUN ANYMORE, IT IS TO GENERIC, NASCAR OFFICIALS WANT IT TO BE "A KINDER, GENTLER SPORT". THEY HAVE TAKEN THE EXCITEMENT OUT OF IT. THANK GOD FOR DRIVERS LIKE TONY STEWART, KEVIN HARVICK AND ROBBIE GORDON, THAT STILL HAVE THE BALLS TO RACE THE OLD STYLE RACING. I AM NOT GOING TO RENEW MY DAYTONA OR BRISTOL TICKETS THIS YEAR, IT'S NO FUN ANYMORE AND I BELIEVE NASCAR KNOWS THE NUMBERS SHOW I AM NOT ALONE. IT IS "NOW" BORING!!!

128. I have enjoyed and loved nascar for many years!
My Fave has always been Jeff Gordan, and / Jimmie Johnson. And Now I add Jr. to my faves.
I love them Hendrix Drivers....love my J'S!
I don't understand why more don't love Jeff, The only thing I can think of it's because He is Sooooo good, at what he does, and them are HATERS!
In my opinion, Jeff and Jimmie will ALWAYS be the BEST!
Love, Dolli

129. 6. I hate NASCAR. The worlds stupidest spectacle with non-athletes sitting on their butts getting credited as athletes. Here's to the next massive high speed pile-up.
Posted at 8:18PM on Mar 24th 2008 by bolawnow
Well genius when you can do what they do then you can open your mouth on what constitutes an athlete. The ones you are thinking about are most likely on steriods.

130. people search for robby gordon?? really?

131. Dale Sr. bought his own fate blocking for his kid and his car. Good driver! Jr is living off the name, when is the last time he won? I wonder about Jr's gender preferences too. I love the rednecks favorite driver just may be gay. The closest man to Dale Sr, it Smoke.
Posted at 12:05AM on Mar 25th 2008 by WWFnNASCAR
132. #67, If Smoke is looking like a girl, Baby E won't like him.

133. I can't believe this comment:
82. I think it's 'telling' that most of these top 10 are unmarried. I prefer a man with 'class' and probably the most methodical driver in NASCAR, who rarely has an incident that harms his car or himself, named KEVIN HARVICK.
Posted at 10:51PM on Mar 24th 2008 by Mickey C
Do you watch the same races I have been Mickey C? When Harvick gets mad he'll ram his car into the person he is mad at. I guess that's what you call class.
Then there's this comment:
84. i love all drivers, tony stewart included, but i think he REALLY needs to win a race this season, because the unknown agreement was that if he wins a race, his crew gets to cut off a lock of his hair, then after the race, he would get it cut short. and i HATE his long hair, so GO #20!!
Posted at 10:53PM on Mar 24th 2008 by morgan
Wow how'd you find out about that unknown agreement? Maybe while watching the 500 when they announced that he would let somebody cut his hair if he won the race.

134. I think it might be important for people to remember that it's the top searched drivers on AOL. Not everybody uses AOL. With some of the recent events some of the searches make sense. Robby Gordon would probably be on this list due to his penalty at Daytona and then the eventual outcome ofter he fought that penalty.

135. nascar is great. tony stewart rocks!!! kyle busch (the shrub) is a creep like his older brother but man can that kid drive a race car. no hope for kurt but maybe joe gibbs will bring him around. you football fans who don't get it have never been to a race. you should try it and you will see why joe gibbs put his money and spirit into it. jr fans are everywhere at the track and i am sure he should be high on your list, maybe a mistake.

136. What ever happened to Rusty Wallace?
Posted at 12:26AM on Mar 25th 2008 by gonz o
137. I am glad Toney Stewarrt is getting respected by the real fans. He sure doesn't get what he deserves by Nascar!

138. There is no better sound than when you "crank it up".
We have a home on Devil's Lake, 10 minutes from M.I.S. and can here the cars from our deck on race day. When there is a NASCAR race at M.I.S. and they "crank it up", heaven can't sound better than that.

139. I think Matt Kenseth is the best driver compared to Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon. I have been a Kenseth fan ever since that commerical on the smirnoff ice triple black, and now he is a sponsor for Arby's, and I like Arby's. He should be on the top 10 list. I cheer him on in the busch race and the nascar races by listening to it on the radio and watching the race on tv, and I do wear my Kenseth shirt or sweatshirt.
