I love the spring season. Flowers blooming, tree leaves growing and the smell of fresh cut grass fills the air. That all sounds great for people that don't have allergies. However, if you do suffer from allergies, we have some remedies for you.I thought it would be helpful to find out what our top searched allergy remedies were on AOL Search. Common OTC and prescription allergy medicines such as Zyrtec, Claritin and Sudafed can help treat most of your allergy symptoms. If these medications don't help your symptoms or medications are not your type, there are some other alternatives.
Natural allergy treatments such as the neti pot, quercetin and stinging nettle can be as effective as prescription allergy pills without the medication. Neti pot, also know as the nose bidet, flushes out all the debris clogging your sinuses and helps alleviate pain. Quercetin is a natural plant-derived compound (called a bioflavonoid) that helps suppress histamine production in your body. Stinging nettle is a weed, sold in capsules, that inhibits the body's ability to produce histamine.

I love zyrtec and find it is more effective for me than claritan. I love that it is now over the counter. I buy all my OTC drugs including dye free benedryl (good for any allergic reaction) and all natural vitamin packs at drugstore.com through an online shopping mall and I have been saving between 5-55% on my purchases at over 1100 stores online including Bare Necessities, Sephora, Apple, The Gap, Target (great for soo much),
Macy's. I also wait for sales so I get my cash back and the lowest
price

The site is ugly, but well worth it.

I started using the Neti Pot about a month ago after repeated allergy and sinus infection problems. That and the combo of Zyrtec and I am finally well for the first time since New Year's Eve.

I too am a long time sinus sufferer! I was recently diagnosed as having "chronic sinusitis." I was recommended for surgery, but have been apprehensive to go through with that type of invasive procedure, until I heard about "Balloon Sinuplasty." It is a minimally invasive way to drain and restore the sinuses with an angioplasty type of balloon.
I've heard that it can be done in under an hour and that you can be on your feet living your life the next day.
Has anyone experienced this type of procedure?

I work in a hair salon AND have allergies and since I started using the Neti-Pot - I have had ZERO sinus problems. And the best part is - you dont even have to use it every day. Use it when you are beginning to feel the effects of hay fever, etc. Also - Airborne is quite effective for keeping us balanced as well. Natural is the way to go....

Honey made from your local area builds an immunity to enviromental allergies. As the bees collect nectar from varying blooming seasonal flowers, plants, trees, the honey made from this nectar provides small doses of the offending allergen. Your immune system will slowly become desensitized to the offending allergy....tasty and worth trying! Be sure the honey came from the area you are living.
God Save The Bees!

Allergy problems you eith live with or get of the allergies and live a pretty normal life. I did just that so 30 yrs. ago doctor told me I had the worst sinus problems he had ever saw. Told me nothing cold to drink drink hot tea etc. And I found two things that help the problem from coming back. Good old natural local honey which has all the local pollen in it to build up natural resistance to many alergies and than I take Vit C Vit E Magnesium and Zinc and have had no problem for more the 30 yrs.

I am amazed that folks use and advise US to use things they CANNOT spell..sorry, I digress, the Netti Pot is an OLD and proven true relief for sinus and allergy relief---there is also a new product on the market--you can ask for a sample like I did. Go to www.alaway.com and request a sample of their histamine eye drops--can be used with or without contact lenses--talk about making the world clear--it is just amazing--and NO, I do NOT work for them--just passing along good ifo--give it a try.

Claritin sells for between 36 to 49 cents per pill, depending on quantity purchased.
The Wagreens brand Wal-atin sells between 10.5 to
22 cents per pill.
They work the same for me. Why pay more?

Dear kwabena ansu, I wander if you just have very dry skin? If so, drink lots of water & use a good lotion to rub all over your skin. Also, your laundry detergent can be causing your itching!?! Hope you get some help fast!! As far as all this pill popping people are doing for everything, like alergies, I would try the home rememdies first. The side effects on those medicines sound pretty rough!!

To the balloon sinuplasty comment--have you considered chiropractic? A good chiropractor can re-align the vertebra in your neck connected to your sinuses, work with sinus points on your head and face, and recommend other strategies to improve overall health. After initial series of adjustments several times a week, I now go for maintenance every few weeks. This care has improved my immunity, overall health, and thus allergies. My sinuses can clear up instantly after an adjustment--it's great! Yoga and massage also help to work the muscles that are keeping the bones "out" of alignment in the first place. Checking out www.maximizedlivingchiropractic.com/ is one way to find a reputable chiropractor in your area and find out more info. Hope this helps you avoid a surgery!
