I feel as though every week a new type of diet is making headlines. This week it's the Beckham and Holmes's seaweed and algae diet. Sounds totally gross to me, but I do have to wonder does this diet really work? And if does sign me up for some seaweed shakes! With bikini weather around the corner I decide to check out what the top searched fad diets were on AOL Search. Some of them on the list like cookie diet, chocolate diet and peanut butter diet actually sound really good. Who wouldn't want to eat these delicious foods and lose weight?
I really had no idea what the lemonade diet, DASH diet and Paleo diet were all about so I decided to do some research. The lemonade diet (aka Master Cleanse diet) consists of drinking lemonade with hot pepper and no food. I'm sure you can lose some weight with this diet plan since you never eat anything. The DASH diet favors fruits, vegetables, whole grains and plant-based protein over meat. It can actually help lower your blood pressure. Now that sounds like a more reasonable diet plan. The Paleo diet is based on eating foods that your body was designed to eat.
Do you know of a fad diet that's not on our top searched list? If so, tell us about it! Check out AOL Body for more information on dieting or try searching for diet plans on AOL Search.

21. The best way to lose weight is to cut back on calories and exercise. I have lost 30 pounds with Southbeach and have kept it off for 2 years-but remember-the key is exercise. I exercise 3-5 days a week for 30-60 minutes and have recently joined a gym for a change of pace. Once you commit yourself to exercise for at lease 2-3 weeks it becomes a habit.

27. On a page about the Paleo diet, it said salt was not to be eaten. This is quite unhealthy, because if one does not eat salt, they will die.

28. Dieting can be evil. To truely be successful at losing excess weight you first have to accept yourself as you are...weight and all. Only after you see yourself as beautiful for what you have, and reduce the stress we all put on ourselves to look a certain way, can you lose the weight. I should know. I am 26 years old, 5 foot 6 inches and after the birth of my son I weighed 210 pounds. It took me 6 years to lose the weight I gained, but i didnt start losing any weight until I accepted myself and stopped defeating my efforts with negative thoughts. I looked at myself in the mirror, said "If this is how I will look, so be it", and changed my diet to be healthy, exercised just a little more than my daily activities and the pounds began to melt off. I now weigh 135 pounds, am becoming trimmed and toned, strong and lean. It is always a process, but begin with the mental, THEN work on the physical.

29. To the one who says their diet works and consists of only 700 calories a day........Are you kidding? That is so unhealthy. You have to atleast consume one thousand calories per day so that your hair won't fall out......and trust me, it will. My sister is almost bald due to this. You also lose muscle mass. Not fat.

30. I was just asking myself what was the three day diet and when i saw the diet that was the diet that I was doing. they gave it out at my mom job (in the hospital and it was proven to work), and id did for me. All you have to do is follow the three day plan, eat normal for four days without overeating and excercise thretimes a week. I lost 9 pounds the first week and even though i've stopped, my weight maintained the same.=]

35. Whoever the 15 year old was that made the comment about lifestyle change is dead on. There is no pill, no 'diet' that makes you lose weight and keep it off. The best way to lose it and keep it off is to change your eating habits and exercise regularly. Don't like the gym? Go for a walk, join a team, get some friends together and play ball in the park, take dancing lessons, workout dvd's, whatever, make it fun.
I think a lot of people have a hard time understanding what is and isn't good for them in everyday situations. I took a health and nutrition class in college and learned a lot about the goods and the bads and what made the bads sound gross to me. Now, I at least can look at an ingredient list and ultimately know if i choose to eat something has processed sugars or empty calories (most things ending in 'ose are usually not very good for you).
If you go out to a restaurant with friends, don't eat a salad if thats not what you want, just because you are watching your weight, you won't be satisfied. Do try to make a better choice in general though. Get that grilled chicken and veggie skewer instead of the half a fried chicken with french fries.
Your taste for things changes as you change your eating habits. I haven't had fast food in months, I barely ever, if ever have a craving for fast food chains now. Find foods that are good for you and that you like. If you don't like it, you won't eat it.
Thats my advice.

36. Eat less if you want to loose weight. Have small servings of fresh fruits daily and veggies later on and less meat. Get used to having an empty stomach and eat sparingly and you`ll see the fat burn off. But if you eat a lot less, eat good foods such as fresh fruits and veggies. You`ll be surprised how much better your food digests. For me excluding breakfast was another key.

37. Maranda (post #3): it sounds like you really are trying to get to your healthiest, but your diet sounds very dangerous; having only 700 calories a day can seriously deplete your system for several reasons:
1) Going below 1200 calories for women (1500 for men) will drastically slow your metabolism, making it harder for you to burn fat in the future
2) With a diet that low, you're likely not getting all the vital nutrients you need (vitamins, minerals, *protein*, *complex carbs*), which will seriously hurt your system. Not only does it hurt your internal health, but you probably are also noticing lack of energy, constant tiredness, etc.
3) Past studies have shown that low calorie (read: sugar-free) drinks can actually make you more hungry and eventually store more fat...plus all that artifical stuff really is not good for your body.
The pressure to lose weight can be addictive, but a diet that low really, truly is dangerous, and I hope you realize that you can still get to a very healthy weight with a diet of fruits, veggies, protein, milk, whole wheat, etc. with a higher (at least 1200) calorie diet. I wish you best of health!

38. From the time I was highschool age until 61 I weighed the same, regardless what I ate or did. When I turned 61 I had to go on a medicatiom and, unbeknownst to me, it could cause rapid weight gain.Suffice it to say I gained 39 pounds within 7 weeks. The weight all collected in my stomach, mid-drift and breasts.Icannot lose a pound. I do drink beer and wine regularly but have done so since I've been an adult & never gained a pound, regardless what I ate or drink, prior to thr meds. Now what I want to know if your program will restore the great metabolism I always had and if I can still drink beer and wine. Please respond so I know asap if your program is for me.Thank you,Cathy 773 238-1412.

Ryans story is really great, I have seen great results with ZYLENE as well. Not only is it natural and organic but it has green tea that helps with weight loss and energy.
I am so happy that I have found zylene. It helps me when I go to the gym in the morning with energy and I feel great all day. I have not have cravings like in the past and my appetite is much less.

40. if any of you want the best diet whether you are a vegetarian, carnivore, omnivore and not diabetic the best way to lose weight or stay stable is 'the farmers diet'. you 'slam' a full glass of water before you eat breakfast, then eat your biggest meal for breakfast, an average sized lunch and nothing bigger than a single hamburger as the preshaped burger patty. by doing so you DON'T have this COLOSSAL MEAL in your digestive track ALLNIGHT LONG and can easily burn off dinner during a good dream.
