As a child, I remember watching 'All My Children' with my mom. I actually loved the soap opera so much that when I was in college, I would rush home from class just to catch it. What is it about all the crazy drama that keeps us glued to our television sets? Soap operas have been around for well over 30 years. One of my girlfriends is addicted to 'As the World Turns'. She started watching the soap as a little girl, and thanks to DVRs she still watches it every day.
Since I've been out of the soap opera drama for a number of years, I decided to find out what the top searched soap operas were on AOL Search.
To my surprise not much has changed. The soap operas that were popular when I was a child are still popular today. As you can see, 'Days of Our Lives', 'General Hospital' and 'All My Children' made it into the top three. 'Fuego En La Sangre' (Fire in the Blood) is actually a Latino soap opera that has become popular over the past few months.

2. Days of Our Lives being first doesn't suprise me...even though it doesn't seem to fair well in the daytime awards shows lately, it has very loyal viewers...myself included...have watched it since i was 11 (yea that is how old i was when it debuted).

4. I LOOOVE Days of our Lives. I also loved watching Passions. And when Sunset Beach was on the air, I also watched that. NBC daytime soaps are the best!

5. I have been an a fan of GL since it's been on TV. They changed the format recently and it has totally ruined the show. They need to listen to the viewers and change it back!!

7. Way to go Days, you have been my favorite since the beginning. I am a faithful fan and remain true to Days. This is the only soap that I watch, it's the only one worth watching.

8. I love Days I heard it might be axed, but their ratings have improved so I doubt that. It's a shame Belle and Shawn were fired. I like them a lot

9. I've been watching Guiding Light for 30+ years and I hate the way they've changed everything. Where are all of the older actors. Where are the Bauer's, the Lewis'? No depth in their story lines. It isn't the "soap opera" that it was once based on. It just doesn't have the spark anymore. It's become disappointing to watch.

10. I agree with all the comments about GL. What are they thinking, the filming gives me a headache and I.ve been watching since I was 10 and I'm 61 now. They are losing me as a loyal viewer, an GET RID OF THE HARLEY STORY,BORING BORING BORING!!!! Get back in the studio and out of Peapack!!!!

12. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING Y&R ON AND OFF SINCE THE BEGINNING. IT USED TO BE A GREAT SHOW. THEY HAVE NEW WRITERS AND THEY HAVE RUINED THE SHOW. PEOPLE GET MURDERED BUT THEY NEVER FIND THE MURDERS. DEAD PEOPLE COME BACK BUT THEY DON'T SEE WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON AND GIVE THE WRONG ADVICE. MARRIAGE A REVOLVING DOOR AND ALL THE CHARACTERS HAVE MARRIED EACH OTHER NUMEROUS TIMES. IT'S ALMOST LIKE INCEST. HARDLY ANYONE IN THE SHOW IS A NICE PERSON. I DON'T WATCH THAT MUCH ANY MORE. TOO MANY NEW CHARACTERS!

13. I stopped watching soaps years ago.....about the time that Stephano DiMeara came back from the dead for the third or fourth time and was still living large in Salem.
They are just too ridiculous to watch.

14. I have watched Days for 34 years it is a great soap. I started watching it when I was only 14 yrs old. It is the only soap I watch. I tape it every day while Im at work and watch it when I get home. Days will always be #1 in my eyes. I love when they bring some of the old cast back on the show.I too wish it would win more Day time Awards. I don't understand why they don't win top soap.

15. Days! You have got to be kidding! That show has the WORST actors of any of them. And the story lines are terrible! AMC,OLTL, and GH are the best on tv.

16. Passions, Passions, always Passions. I will be grieving in August, when it finally ends. The best soap, ever. Funny, creepy, never boring. Story lines to make you go: WHAT???? But I love it. No other soap could ever come close.

17. I grew up watching my "mom's" soaps which were All my Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital. I watched General Hospital everyday after school and when I got out of school I started watching mainly All My Children and General Hospital, But now I am so hooked on One Life to Live. Back in the 80's I thought it was so stupid having the cast move to the 1880's and that Eterna crap who ever wrote that crap was crazy in the head but now I like it and it started with The story line with Todd and the lethal injection man I got hooked there! All My Children has been a favorite for a long time but its gotten so boring! I loved the baby switching story but I cant believe we are back to Ryan being crazy again! Thank God Jesse and Angie are back! And General Hospital just stays great! I love the Micheal story on now!
