I attended a posh party last weekend where they were only serving top-shelf liquor. When I asked for a margarita, the bartender's response was. "Would you like Cabo Wabo or Patron Silver tequila?" Not being much of a liquor connoisseur, I opted for Cabo Wabo. I usually drink my margaritas with Jose Cuervo tequila, mojitos with Bacardi rum and white russians with Absolut Vodka. So as you can see, I'm not that familiar with top-shelf liquors. Maybe it's because I enjoy cocktails more than straight up liquor chilled or on the rocks.
I decided to find out which liquor brands are popular among our AOL Search users. As you can see from the list below, the most searched are also the most common types of whiskey, rum, vodka and bourbon.
Did your favorite brand of liquor show up on our list? If not, please tell us about it or try searching for liquor brands on AOL Search.

1. I love my cocktails. I also am a weight counselor and I love fitting into my jeans! I am willing to give up a piece of cheesecake to have an extra drink however. One of my favorite recipes when I make drinks is for a "skinny" strawberry daquiri with white Barcardi rum. I make it totally low carb and very potent. Here is my recipe:
Ingredients:
8 strawberries
6 ice cubes
3 packets Splenda
2 -3 oz rum
1oz lime juice
Def give you a buzz with very little carbs!
In general as far as weight loss, I feel that lower carb eating (not
low or no carb, just limiting
processed "white foods") in general is healthy, but I think of that
as more of a way of eating than a fad.
Here are a other few tips that I give out:
Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If you can't be
perfect in your eating don't make the day a wash and start
"tomorrow".
Try to eat something you truly enjoy every day.
Try to eat tomatoes in some form..lycopene is great for all
especially men!
Get a pedometer and try to walk 10,000 steps a day.
If you don't get enough fruits and veggies take a good multi vitamin.
Try to get exercise in when you can. I have read about smartsoles on
many aol boards and they actually work, they increase calories burned
with each step and tone muscles http://www.smartsole.com
Join a support group to discuss food issues. I have found that good
old fashioned weight watchers truly is the best and not expensive.

And the best thing I did for myself as a single woman is get a pet.
It has reduced stress for me and added to my happiness.
Try not to eat your heaviest meal too late.
Don't hold grudges!
Again all are "tries". nobody is perfect!

Gentleman Jack and a splash of cola

4. I can't believe that Jack Daniel's isn't on that list. Southern Comfort? Jim Beam? What kind of rednecks took this poll?

5. Since I enjoy a good beer or ale much more, it would be interesting to see a poll on what beer is most favored. Now, true, if you count all the beers made, it could be a nightmare trying to pick one, and since any number are small local breweries, many names would show up that most of us have never seen in our area. But you never know, might be Bud, or MGD, or , my favorite, Amber Bock. All that matters, be it scotch, rum, whiskey, or beer is what do you like the best and the hell with everyone else.

6. there is a new tequila that's in the market called Trago. Check it out. Great taste, very, very smooth on all levels.

7. How come Hennessy is not on the list? hmmmmmm. Or Patron. Bacardi 151? what the hell is going on?
Posted at 2:45PM on May 16th 2008 by Angel
8. I drink my tequila straight and for me, it's got to be Don Julio or Herradurra Anejo. Always the Anejo, the age makes it smooth. Never Patron. Patron is not a good tequila, it is just a marketing marvel. Besides if you can't buy it in Mexico, I'm suspect of it.
And for Vodka, gimme Chopin. It's one of the very few if not only potato vodka left on the market. It actually has some flavor. I also like Skyy, especially if I know I'm going to have more than one or two drinks. Skyy is gentler to the system. As for Vodka, I'm kickin' it old school, Martinis or Gimlets, straight up.

9. I'd learned at an early age that mixers were for cheap liquor; good quality liquor was best enjoyed straight. You nailed a couple of my top ones on this list -- Absolut and Southern Comfort (as a cordial). Still for straight or over the rocks, nothing beats ice-box-chilled Stolichnaya Vodka.

10. Boycott all Absolut Vodka and products. Research the add they had in Mexico about "in an absolut world" which had most of the USA still part of Mexico.
My vision in an absolut world in the European Continent is a German Flag.

11. Pappy VanWinkle Whiskey(20 year old) is the smoothist of them all. Should be sipped not mixed

12. If you like to drink vodka try EFFEN VODKA.It has a smooth taste and goes well with pomegrante juice. Try it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted at 2:55PM on May 16th 2008 by MoNeek
13. Tanqueray Sterling Vodka!
Drinking Absolut is like sucking on a bar rag.
Posted at 2:56PM on May 16th 2008 by jwwillmot
14. Johnnie Walker Blue Label or Black Label on the rocks. (Max of 2 ice cubes, any more is just brutalizing the scotch).
Posted at 2:59PM on May 16th 2008 by matt
15. My favorite drink is "McMasters and Diet vernors" Iy's a smooth nice Taste.
Posted at 3:09PM on May 16th 2008 by Jackie
16. I love JoseCuervo's Tradicional It is the best a bartender in Las Vegas turned me on to it . I agree Patron is the worst

17. The Jim Beam Black is my new favorite over my old Jack Danials. With a splash of Ginger, you can get mashed out with out the hang-over!!!

18. McCallan scotch - rocks or neat for Winter. Hangar One vodka (kaffir lime) rocks all year. Cruzan rum or Appleton XO rum rocks for Summer.

19. Give me a Grey Goose Vodka martini with extra olives and I am IN THE ZONE!!
Posted at 3:16PM on May 16th 2008 by Tobi
20. It doesn't get any better than Grey Goose when it comes to Vodka, and if you want to try a great tequila that's not as expensive as Patron, try Cazadores.
