I attended a posh party last weekend where they were only serving top-shelf liquor. When I asked for a margarita, the bartender's response was. "Would you like Cabo Wabo or Patron Silver tequila?" Not being much of a liquor connoisseur, I opted for Cabo Wabo. I usually drink my margaritas with Jose Cuervo tequila, mojitos with Bacardi rum and white russians with Absolut Vodka. So as you can see, I'm not that familiar with top-shelf liquors. Maybe it's because I enjoy cocktails more than straight up liquor chilled or on the rocks.
I decided to find out which liquor brands are popular among our AOL Search users. As you can see from the list below, the most searched are also the most common types of whiskey, rum, vodka and bourbon.
Did your favorite brand of liquor show up on our list? If not, please tell us about it or try searching for liquor brands on AOL Search.

123. Not that I want to advertise it cause then the price goes up but when it comes to rum Bacardi is one of the worst. Having grown up in Puerto Rico and then living in the Virgin Islands, DON Q is the better Puerto Rican Rum and Cruzan Rum is even better.

126. Unfortunately, most of your really good spirits are not that well known so they won't often show up in a SEARCH format. Instead, you will get the mass market swill that is heavily advertised.
My favorites are Stolichnaya Gold Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Glenlivet 18yr Scotch, Mount Gay Extra Old Barbados Rum, El Tesoro de Don Felipe Reposado Tequila, Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Crown Royal Reserve Canadian Whiskey.
Unfortunately, most of these include a sudden case of STICKER SHOCK at the register so here is a compilation of some good but reasonably priced alternates.
Skyy or Monopolowa (potato) Vodka, Gordon's Gin, Teacher's Highland Cream Scotch, Cruzan Estate Diamond Rum, Jose Cuervo Tradiccional Reposado or Lunazul Blanco Tequila, Jim Beam Black Label Bourbon and Forty Creek Barrel Select Canadian Whiskey.
Just remember, if it's real cheap there is probably a good reason! Good spirits aren't that much more expensive and your popularity as a host or hostess will certainly improve if you serve the good stuff.
Cheers!

128. I could never understand anyone wanting to ruin a good liquor with soda pop or a fruit juice. It should only be taken with a small amount of water or at next best,a few ice cubes. My personal choices would be as follows:
Gin--Boodles or Bombay Sapphire with a twist of lemon
Scotch--Glenmorangie or Dewars Pinch on the rocks.
Bourbon--Jack Daniels or Wild Turkey
Vodka-- Smirnoff or Skyy with lemon twist
Cordials- Drambuie or Lochan Ora on ice.
Fou Fou Drinks give me headaches!!

132. Absolut Vodka?! No way! Grey Goose is the best for most mixes (Screw Drivers, Cape Cods, etc). I even do some shots with it if I feel a little risque.
