A few months ago, I did a post on plus-size clothing. Many of the comments we received were focused on which clothing brands people prefer.I decided to find out which plus size clothing brands are most popular among our users. As you can see from the list below Lane Bryant, Avenue and Woman Within make up the top three. Other popular stores are Roamans, Jessica London and Catherines.
Many readers complained that most of these stores can be rather expensive. One tip to save money at these stores is to register for their mailing/e-mail lists. You'll receive announcements of upcoming sales along with coupons that you can use on sale items.
Do you know of any plus-size clothing brands that did not show up on the list? If so, please tell us about them. Check out more from AOL Shopping or search for plus-size clothing brands on AOL Search.

1. I am a plus sized woman and guess what... I don't like big bows, polyester and lime green. Plus sized clothing is so much better now than years ago. I also prefer the terms curvy, voluptuous and full figured just as an aside.
I love the clothing at J.Jill. http://www.jjill.com I am a 20W and their clothing is elegant and natural materials and fits like a dream, embracing my fabulous curves, not hiding them.
I also love smartsole anti-cellulite insoles that I read about on these searches. They are great for the feet of a curvy woman..so comfortable and soothe muscles and stiumulate circulation. http://www.smartsole.com

2. One of the great things about shopping online is that some of the mainstream stores offer plus sizes in their online stores, even though they don't in their brick-and-mortar locations. One of my favorites for this is JJill. Another is Coldwater Creek. I'm sure there are others...

3. My favorite is still Lane Bryant. I'm 23, and their stuff is cute, way better than back in the day, and it all fits properly, the right fit jeans are GOLD. I get a few things at Torrid, but it's mostly the "oversided junior clothing" that don't fit plus size women correctly! The rest of the stores are so tacky! The stuff is so bad my mother wouldn't even wear it! Just because I wear a size 22 doesn't mean I want to wear stretch pants and flowers! I wish there were more options. Considering the average women wears a 14... why aren't there more stores like Lane Bryant?
and it is a MUST to sign up for e-mails from Lane Bryant. They send coupons all the time, $25 off $50 usually or $50 off $150. The stuff is a little more expensive, but the coupons make it affordable. The quality is good, and it's classy.

4. I wear a plus size. The main problem I have is finding stripes going the right way and small prints. Since I was a kid they said..heavy people should wear vertical stripes...not horizontal. Also they should wear small prints not huge floral prints. Mostly everything i see for full figures women consists of horizontal stripes and huge prints. Who designs these things anyhow????

5. I like Fashion Bug. They have great sales and cute clothes.

6. I wouldn't wear any of the above brands and I'm a plus sized woman. I prefer Elizabeth, Coldwater Creek and Charter Club to any of these. There are many designer labels who carry plus size and the quality is much better; also if you find them on sale it's a much better buy.

7. even though they have nice clothes...These companies you listed do not do justice to large women by using thin models in their catalogues..I would not buy from them for that reason..

8. There is also Zaftique online - they have some cool club clothes/dresses - alittle pricey and be sure you adhere to their return policy because they DO NOT BEND on it - no matter how much $ you spend

9. Old Navy has a plus sized line online that is affordable and stylish! I am a happy customer. Use your Old Navy charge and get free shipping - they also have added some underthings - I have never been disappointed with Old Navy plus size clothing.

10. I rarely shop at exclusively :plus-size" stores. Depending on their buyer the quality of the clothes can vary greatly - our Catherines is not only very expensive it caters to older people (I am 49 and I wouldn't be caught dead in these grandma clothes) our Lane Bryant tend to the other end - too young and inappropriate for the workplace. When I can find one I love C&J Banks - the plus size version of Christopher Banks - they have variety, mid-range prices and great sales - just wish I had one closer to home. I also have decent luck with the Women's sections of stores like Penneys and Dillards - again a lot depends on their buyer.

11. WHO DESIGNS THESE CLOTHES? Large women do NOT like scoop necks, short cap sleeves, tops with WIDE horizontial stripes and loud mismatch colors.
We want sweetheart neck lines and V necks and 3/4 legnth sleeves, longer tops to cover the bloops and material that isn't see through or too heavy of a knit. We want patterns and designs that are classy and beautiful. Half the stuff in the store looks like a spiteful designer drummed it up to make larger women LOOK larger. GET WITH IT PEOPLE! NO POLYESTER! NO CHEAP MATERIAL THAT SHRINKS WHEN YOU WASH IT!

12. I like Ulla Popken and Silhouettes. On the few occasions that I've had to return something, both of these gave excellent customer service. Of course, plus-size clothing is more expensive. Go try to buy a large car and you'll see why. I prefer to pay for better quality from reliable suppliers.

13. I agree that the top stores are expensive and sometimes just plain tacky. I have discovered Macy's womans department has a wide range of clothing and various prices. I love that I can now buy CK jeans (that fit) and they are reasonably priced I got mine on sale for $23. Target also has a great selection, search the sale racks!

15. C.J. Banks is a great store for plus size women. They carry size 14-26. They have a counter part, Christopher & Banks that sells the smaller size women's clothes. You can find tops, pants, capris, skirts, dresses and jackets there. They have great mark downs weekly too!

16. Another great source is QVC. Their sizing is the same for all labels. Price is reasonable and quality is outstanding. The clothing is correct for your size, not just a blown-up version. Their Madison Avenue designers are amazing. I wear Bob Mackie, Nolan Miller, Victor Costa, Dennis Basso, Koos Van Acker, Emme, George Simonton and others.

17. As a size 20 I can tell you it really upsets me to shop for large women clothes and only find these large flowers, and wild colors. I hate to see a large women in these clothes with big designs, pictures, stones and other stuff. What makes you think these clothes make you look small. They don't! They make you look bigger.Do some pretty stripe, designs that make you look better like dresses or shirts that come below the breast with elastic or string and then flares out. Don't wear tight clothes that sticks to our fat. And big people don't wear pleats, we don't need to look bigger. Hope I haven't affended anyone but I'm big too and I don't want to look bigger either. I'm just trying to be honest.

18. Talbots has great clothing for plus-sized women. The clothing is vert stylish and tailored, not oversized and blousy. They have stores locally and also a great catalogue or online ordering department. They always accept returns without complaining. Their sales are wonderful!

19. I have had good experience with both Ulla Popken and Silhouettes with mail orders. Both of them add the length of the garment to the descriptions, which is a factor in my choices. Both give good customer service when a return/exchange is necessary.

20. Dress Barn Woman is my favorite and I can't believe it was not on the list for plus sized clothing! I can always find something there for any occasion. Coupons come in the mail, online or with your credit card bill. Mark-downs in the store are often generous especially off season items.
