The topic of stretch marks isn't a fun one. If you don't have them, you try to prevent them. If you have them, as most people do, you want to know how to get rid of them. Whether your stretch marks are the result of pregnancy weight, rapid weight loss or weight gain there are some treatments that can help eliminate those nasty lines.
Some of these treatments can be rather expensive -- laser, dermabrasion and chemical peel -- but there are other options. Stretch mark creams are less costly, but depending on the brand, some creams can set you back more than $100 for a 3-ounce bottle.
As you can see from the list below, the stretch mark remedy AOL users are searching for most is Strivectin-SD, with Hydroderm and Mederma rounding out the top three. Other popular stretch mark creams are Trilastin-SR, Revitol Stretch Mark and Tummy Honey. Although Yonka came in last place, it is still popular for its two different creams for during and after your pregnancy.
I've read that drinking a lot of water helps you develop fewer stretch marks since it makes your skin soft, therefore more elastic. It may also help if you eat foods high in zinc, like nuts and fish, and rich in vitamins A and C, like carrots and citrus. However, if stretch marks run in your family, then you'll probably still get them anyway.
Do you know of any stretch mark creams that did not show up on the list? If so, please tell us about them. Check out more from AOL Shopping or search for stretch mark creams on AOL Search.

1. I need a good stretch cream. I recently lost 60 pounds I have tried strivectin and hydroderm it was a waste of money. I am going to a specialist right now who is treating me with a glycolic compound that I think is working, but it takes time. I would love a cream that worked to compliment my treatments, but I think it does not exist!. The dr that is treating me told me to drink water and eat foods high in zinc as well as flax which is high in Omega 3's and 6's.
I lost the weight in a healthy manner by going to weight watchers (http://www.weightwatchers.com) and by wearing smartsole insoles http://www.smartsole.com The insoles increase circulation and cause you to burn more calories with every step. I read about a coupon code on these searches for them too. SMART15 gives you 15% off.
I am predisposed to stretch marks, it is genetic, my mom had them as do both of my sisters. I think mine are less cause I lost weight slowly in a healthy manner

8. I also was supposed to get stretch marks--my mother got terrible ones (purple). My sister has purple ones. But after 3 children, I have none. I rubbed on natural Vitamin E. And internal is important also. I took 500mg Vitamin C + 1000mg MSM combination (one of each), and I did this 7-10 times a day. It's cheap and it really really works! I know, it probably sounds crazy, but it totally heals skin, nails, and hair. Give it a try!!!

9. Stretch marks run in my family, but I used Palmer's Cocoa Butter twice a day when I was pregnant, and I only got ONE! I was very pleased. So don't be discouraged when you hear "creams don't work, if you're prone to stretch marks, you'll get them anyway" it's not true!

10. SNAKE OIL SALESMEN ARE COMING TO OUR DOORS WITH THIS STUFF NOW!! i'm thrilled about the new snake oils---right after i applied it--instantly everything disappeared---then i saw my internal organs pulsating---it was my heart!! i applied what i thought was a beauty cream--but no!! it was sulfuric acid!! it tingled at first---leading me to think it was working---my skin tightened up and it looked so youthful---then it melted away!! in agony --i stayed calm---finally i had to seek treatment when i saw what looked like strings of flesh in rows---i think it was muscle--by the time i was taken in ---my rib bones were dissolving!! it was neutralized with cauterization and basically scooping out the creamy flesh---i survived it---im still looking for a new and better cream to fix the mess im in now!! i heard of radiation resurfacing of the skin --but im a lil bit afraid right now---hopefully i can travel to Africa--and find a root called ---dungwunda root--used by certain tribes for head shrinkings--hopefully it will re-tighten me back up-----thanks--just sharing --

11. I am 54 years old and have had 3 children. I used good old fashion Johnson & Johnson's Baby oil and I have absolutely NO stretch marks. I still use it every single day. After I shower I smooth it all over my wet body and put on a white terry cloth robe. I wear the robe while applying my makeup and fixing my hair. By the time I'm finished my skin has absorbed the baby oil and I am silky smooth. I swear by this routine. My man loves my skin!

17. When I was pregnant with both of my children in the early 60's, I used a product called "Mother's Friend". It worked.....never had one stretch mark!!!

18. I have 6 children and no stretch marks. I have used "Mother's Friend" for almost 50 years. You will have to find a drug store that can order it for you, but it can still be found. It is worth it. Several of my daughters and granddaughters have used it. Let's bring it back to our local market shelves. Try it.

19. creams and potions are a waste of money
stretch marks are an actual breakage of the tissue and no cream is going to put it back together or stop the skin from parting when stetched passed it's limits in the first place
stretch marks can fade or change color with time but will always be there
moisturizing the skin does not extend the skin tissue's elasticity in any way
people are too vain these days

20. I once used a fade cream and it actually worked I was so amazed. It lightened up the strecth makrs too. The only thing is I can not find that cream anymore. I think I will try Strivectin-SD next.
