'Tis the season for colds, coughs and flus. With holiday festivities just around the corner, the last place you want to be is home in bed feeling sick. While you're doing your holiday party planning, also plan to build up your immune system with these top searched immunity boosters. When I was younger, my mom would give me ginger ale and toast with cinnamon every time I got sick. Turns out, she knew exactly what to do to help me get over my cold. Ginger and cinnamon are two of the most searched foods that improve your immune system health. Cinnamon, while great in desserts, is also rich in antioxidants that inhibit bacteria from growing.
On a cold winter morning, instead of reaching for coffee, reach for a cup of Assam tea. Studies show that this tea, herbal green tea, or any tea for that matter, contains nutrients that promote intestinal health. Because 70 percent of your immune system is in your digestive tract, a few cups of tea a day could keep the doctor away. The health benefits of tea are so strong that they are available as pills, like Mega Green tea supplement.
Bacteria has gotten a bad rap. Most people don't realize that some bacterias, like number four on our list, are actually good for you. Probiotics support the immune cells in your digestive tract that produce germ-fighting antibodies. While you can get your dose with supplements, like Garden of Life probiotics, a more delicious option is to eat probiotic-rich yogurt.
It is never too late to strengthen your immune system. Even if you do come down with a cold, immune-boosting vitamins and minerals can help you get over it fast. The best cold medicines contain Vitamin C and Zinc, which has been proven to shorten the length of cold symptoms.

I heard about fitflax on Oprah. It is great for boosting your overall immune system. Flax is great in general but the brown flax is not tasty. My wife introduced me to fitflax (I got mine at http://www.fitflax.com ) and it tastes great as it is the goldend kind and roasted. I have not had one cold this season!

At age 60 something I have kept colds and
flu under control with only a day or two
recovery time needed. I use the Kombuch
Tea in the morning. Just a small glass about
every day. Somehow it keeps digestion working
and for the last couple of years minimal
discomfort from colds. I like Infinitea
citrus flavor. But its only sold in Boulder
Co.

Tea also contains tannin which bonds to protein and iron in the body, depleting the body of these nutrients!

You didn't mention one of the best anti-cancer fighters in our cupboard. Cumin mixed with olive oil into a thick paste for adding to sauces & soups ranks above all your recommendations. Study the research!!

I use homemade Ginger tea for common colds, cough, congestion, when I feel tired. This concoction has been given to me since I was a little child and now I make it for my family. Works everytime. Boil several pounded slices of fresh ginger in water. Turn off heat, cover pot and let steep for about 5 min or so. Heat up again if it gets cool. Pour into a glass or cup, add honey to taste, and juice of and all of a 1/2 lime or lemon. The zesty oil from the lime or lemon will give it a little bite or bitter taste, which feels good in your throat. Drink it hot. Great for hard to snooze night also. Ginger is good for stomach upset. We do eat lots of candies ginger and use fresh one in cooking during the Fall and Winther months.
Btw, does anyone know for sure why Honey is not recommended to children under the age of 2 yrs old? I know they say it is because the little children can not digest certain enzyme in the honey. But then, the Asians and I know some other ethnic groups have been fed honey (natural) since we were infants. None the worse.

I was lucky enough to never have been overweight in my life. That all ended after the birth of my second child. I got down to 20 pounds over my normal weight but no matter what I did I couldn't lose the rest. I didn't know if was age catching up with me or if somehow my metabolism changed. Whatever the reason, nothing was working. One of my friends, knowing what I was going through, recommended a weight loss pill to me. I was very reluctant to try anything like that but when she explained to me that it contained acai berry, she got my attention. I know that the acai berry is one of the best antioxidants available. That made me realize that this was more than a weight loss pill but something that would be good for me too. What made me feel even better was that they offered a free 15 day supply at their web site http://tinyurl.com/AcaiBerrySelect Anyway, I ordered my free sample and it worked. I lost about 2 pounds a week and in less than three months I was back to my normal weight and I felt full of energy and actually felt the healthiest I felt in years. You owe it to yourself to look into Acai Berry Select if you need to lose weight. http://tinyurl.com/AcaiBerrySelect

Eat two cups of sifted dirt a day, either stirred well in water or cooked into food. You'll never get sick again (but you'll probably die anyway - and likely sooner than later)
