You can't escape infomercials. They are all over late-night TV and sometimes they even sneak their way into prime-time commercial breaks. In truth, we love to hate them. It is amazing to watch a cloth soak up nearly a gallon of water or see a patch suck all the toxins out of your body, but deep down we know it probably doesn't truly work like that.
Love them or hate them, you are still searching for them. Check out our list of the top searched infomercials.
Not surprisingly, most of these products deal with fitness care and body image, including exercise equipment, facial skin care and diets. Number one on the top searched list is Nutrisystem, a weight loss system. These convincing commercials show people losing weight in a matter of days. If it actually works is up to you to find out. Another health-related infomercial is Dual Action Cleanse, which markets itself as a natural body cleanser meant to clean your colon.
Other than products to lose weight, other top searched 'As Seen on TV' commercials include a slow cooker made especially for pasta.

I think nearly all informercials are misleading and a total scam on people. You can watch them cut corners and stuff. for example ShamWow next time you see it, watch how much water is there b4 during and after. I don't see how they can make the informercial that revealing. It's easy to spot if you just pay attention. Anyway, I always look at those "as seen on tv" things as a Warning, buy at your own risk !!! I don't see how they are able to bypass BBB.

WATCH OUT FOR THE SHIPPING AND HANDLING. ITS MORE THAN THE PRODUCT
By JOE on Jan 1st 2009 at 6:58PM
I think all the informercials are misleading and scams. If you watch them very closely, you can see where they cut corners etc. Kinda like Magic-optical illusions. For example, the ShamWow mercial... Watch closely b4 during and after the coke spill clean up. I can't believe the editor of this particular mercial let that one by. I always regard these "as seen on tv" with a "buy at your own risk" attitude. Then to top it all off, they make it sound like a WONDERFUL deal. Ya right. It is if you don't have to calculate S&H. For example. Those blankets with arm sleeves, First one $20, Second one Free. Just pay S&H. Ship and handling is $8 each. so your paying $20 each in the end, but they aren't worth that much. You can take a blanket from a dept. store and sew arm holes and have the same thing, probably even warmer for cheaper. Those Riddex. Same situation on the Buy one get one free, Its not free and is actually over the top on price once you calculate S&H. NO LIE... I tried to purchase a wallet and bumper sticker for a total of $10. But then they were going to charge me 20.66 to ship them GROUND. That is absolutely crazy and is a rip off in it self. No I didn't buy them. But I mailed 3 pr. shoes, 3 bottle hot sauce, and a pair of jeans for $10, so they can't tell me it would cost that much to mail "ONE bumper sticker and ONE Velcro nylon wallet, even calculating the "Handling" part.

It's all overpriced useless junk.
We always laugh at the shots of spastic people who can't flip hamburhers or slice onions or clean their ovens.
These products are clearly something any spastic person who can't perform a simple task needs.
The rest of us>?

I have tried several thing 'As seen on TV', but the one thing I found that so far does what it says it can do it the Magic Bullet. I own 3 myself and have given two as gifts. They are marvelous for many things. Soups, salsa, etc. But the primary reason I use them is Slushie drinks made from just about any concoction or combination of fruit, juice, teas, etc. I can think of. They are marvelous for hot days and for the added benefit, you get water (from the ice) along with the drink. So fine you don't know you're drinking water and water is important. So, not all things on Info commercials are bad. I've found at least ONE that continues to perform and does exactly what it says it can do. CHECK IT OUT.

i personally boycott any product pitched by billy mays. i wish everyone would so we would never have to listen to that "voice" again.

While on the subject, I don't really like to give my opinion on any one thing, but the Magic Bullet is great. I also use tried Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty products and found they are wonderful. You don't have to use a lot of it and it goes a long way. I get my replacements every 3 months and that is about how long one order will last. Given the fact that this is about $32.00 a month and I don't buy other stuff for my skin except occasionally an all over moisturizer (Vaseline Intensive care), a sloughing (Pretty Feet) and I always have Noxema as a cleanser when I'm camping or traveling. So now you have two items that I think really work 'As Seen on TV'

If you want to buy junk and listen to Billy Mays scream at you, then buy the product. For example, my wife wanted the Wonderhangers, and the shipping and handling cost $15.95 while the very cheap product cost $9.95.

X 2 on Billy Mays. I can think of a couple of others as well. Not that I don't like Germans or Austrailians but these guys need to go away!!!

Sorry for the last post. I forgot to say that 'given the fact I don't buy other 'stuff' for my face and the only other 3 items in my 'arsenal' for protection are Noxema, Pretty Feet, and Vaseline Intensive care, I think $32.00 a month isn't bad. I've seen the other stuff in the store. I like Oil of Olay, but the prices have gotten too high. The market is overwhelming with what is good for you. The choices are unlimited, but most of the time, the stuff doesn't do what it says. So, I've made my choices and plan to stick with them. Sorry Clairol gave up the original Herbal Essence in favor of the stuff on the shelves these days. I used that original shampoo (ORIGINAL HERBAL ESSENCE) and got a lift from the smell (what they call Aromatic therapay today....Herbal Essence did wonders for me) as well, I used it as a body wash. It left the shelves and was replaced by a multitude of different fragrance Herbal Essences, but none like the Original, so I don't buy it. There was also a shampoo and body cleanser called Body Lotion (I think). It was great for shampoo & a shower wash. It too, left the shelves. Do I buy those replacements I see today? NO. I have returned to Ivory or Dove soap. So, figure out what is best for you, what works for you and stick with it. Let the company know in letters how well you like it and recommend it. I think this is the only way we can keep products we find which work for us on the market. OUR OPINIONS DO COUNT!!!!

One product that was not mentioned here is a joint supplement called 'Supple' (www.supple.com). I have had 2 knee surgeries and surgery for a separated wrist so I had some joint pain issues. I have tried glucosamine chondroitin tablets and other supplements containing these remedies. Nothing worked. I watched, with interest, a doctor interviewing the developer of this product. The more I listened, the more interesting it sounded. I decided to go for it and order a 7-week supply. Lo and behold, the product works. I actually noticed a difference within a short period of time, and received a second 70-week supply. It has a peach, mango flavor so it was not disgusting to drink. Unfortunately, it just so happened that I am allergic to mangoes (which I didn't know prior to drinking this supplement) and had to discontinue use. The product contains REAL mango puree -- not an artificial flavor. I plan to finish my current supply but only drinking a can a few times a week. The recommendation is one every day. I'm hoping that my system won't know it's getting mangoes and won't build up a resistance.

I have a magicjack that i have used for a few months now and it works great. The only draw back is you have to leave your computer running or calls go to voice mail. Some people dont like leaving there computer on all the time but if you dont mind it is great. For $20.00 a YEAR what more do you want. Comes with all the same features a regular provider provides but a lot cheaper.
By Denise on Jan 1st 2009 at 7:46PM
Own 2 majic jacks--used them in europe and mexico. so far so good. its nothing more than skype or voice over the internet protocol. And its very inexpensive. I no longer own a land line--only cell and majic jacks. by the way--the computer has to be on to use--but you can use any type of phone--cordless or corded. yes they do work and I would recommend em.

I know this is off the topic, but I just wanted to share what I found today with everyone. 50% OFF on everything, and No Taxes. This web site is the best thing that has ever happened.
