The topic of stretch marks isn't a fun one. If you don't have them, you try to prevent them. If you have them, as most people do, you want to know how to get rid of them. Whether your stretch marks are the result of pregnancy weight, rapid weight loss or weight gain there are some treatments that can help eliminate those nasty lines.
Some of these treatments can be rather expensive -- laser, dermabrasion and chemical peel -- but there are other options. Stretch mark creams are less costly, but depending on the brand, some creams can set you back more than $100 for a 3-ounce bottle.
As you can see from the list below, the stretch mark remedy AOL users are searching for most is Strivectin-SD, with Hydroderm and Mederma rounding out the top three. Other popular stretch mark creams are Trilastin-SR, Revitol Stretch Mark and Tummy Honey. Although Yonka came in last place, it is still popular for its two different creams for during and after your pregnancy.
I've read that drinking a lot of water helps you develop fewer stretch marks since it makes your skin soft, therefore more elastic. It may also help if you eat foods high in zinc, like nuts and fish, and rich in vitamins A and C, like carrots and citrus. However, if stretch marks run in your family, then you'll probably still get them anyway.
Do you know of any stretch mark creams that did not show up on the list? If so, please tell us about them. Check out more from AOL Shopping or search for stretch mark creams on AOL Search.

I actually found a soap online (bobskinsoap) that helped with my stretch mark prevention and dry skin problems. I have used it for over 6 years now and even wash my hair and shave with it.

Emu oil is a miracle!!! It not only prevents and lightens current stretch marks but helps any kind of skin condition and its a topical pain reliever!! I had awful, painful bursitis and was searching for something to help me other than pain pills and came across some info on Emu oil. Its all natural and now I'm pain free!! I have been using Emu oil for 2+ years and the oil has dramatacilly reduced the wrinkles on my face, neck and chest and faded age spots as well. Recently I burned my arm badly and have no scars left from twice daily use of the Emu oil! My niece recently had a baby and no stretch marks from twice daily use!! Google it and you'll be amazed at what this little miracle oil does!!

Cocoa Butter works so well that it can even make scares look lighter within a few days. I love and it works so well. I used it after I had my first child and also after my second child was born. I had both of them through C- section. My skin looks a lot better.

I am a 54 year old mother of 2 grown children. When I was younger and pregnant with my 1st child my mom told me to put baby oil on my stomach during the entire pregnacy. Back in the 70's we didn't have choices of fancy products nor the money to buy them, so I used the baby oil everyday. Sometimes twice a day. My skin never became itchy and I never had one stretch mark! The only problem I had was that I forgot to put it on my butt! LOL And yes, I got a few stretch marks there. But that told me that the oil really worked for me because my stomach was stretch mark free!! Sometimes those old remedies really do work!

My mother gave birth to 6 children including a set of twins, I had 3 boys. We have never had stretch marks. It is clear that we are blessed genetically. So, if science can discover what chemical (in abundance naturally)reduces stretch marks, that would be the answer to stretch marks. I recommend Palmer's Coco Butter, I use it to keep my heel supple.

I personally swear by the "acucups" that I have used through my two pregnancies! I was introduced to them in my massage therpist's office and I have used them ever since. Not only do they work for stretch marks but also for cellulite. I think that this was the best $20 investment I have ever made!

I've been using Palmers Cocoa Butter for about 15 yrs on a daily basis. I am 40 and get compliments all of the time on how good I smell and mostly on how lovely my skin is. I am of European Discent and it works great for my olive skin tone. My daughters use it as well as many of my family members after seeing the results on me. It's great for any time of yr pregnant of not. Stretch marks are just going to happen to some and not to others, that's a fact of life.

None of these work!I used Barmon Skin Creme after having 3 kids and it was the only thing that really got rid of my strecth marks. All this other stuff does is make you spend money for junk, I think it is only availabel on line. It isn't expensive and it does the job.

You can pretty much use any creams or treatments and nothing will work. It's in your DNA. My doctor told me not to waste money on any creams and that the only that will get rid of them is surgery. I used Cocoa Butter twice every day from 2 months of pregnancy to right before I gave birth. My sister did as well and we both have really bad stretch marks. I know other people who didn't use any creams and don't have any stretch marks.

The creams have never worked for me, I have used the rubber suction cups that you suction onto your skin and then massage. This is the best deep massage ever and my skin has changed dramatically.

Acucups is what they are called.

This is easy but no one knows it. Psychic Edgar Cayce with his 95% cure rate, gave a solution to scars that works. I know cause I tried it just for fun. You rub it on a couple times a day and the scar disappears quickly but keep using it because it heals on the surface first. If you quit the scar will reappear. Really deep scars have taken as long as 6 months. Mine were gone permanently in a month. Association of Research and Enlightenment, Heritage House, Virginia Beach, Virginia has the stuff if no one local carries Cayce products. Its called Scar Massage and costs around $8.

this article is one sided? what men don't get stretchmarks? i've seen men with stretchmarks and it's not pretty either...and it's true if it runs in your family you will get them. thank god when i had my daughter i have no stretchmarks on my stomach or anywhere for that reason but neither does my mom or grandmother. but i know people who got messed up from stretchmarks and all those creams did not work. it would take surgery to remove some of the stomachs ive seen on women.

I was 38 when I had my son. I used Palmer's Cocoa Butter and never got a stretchmark. I was also lucky that I craved water, so I was very hydrated during my pregnancy!

Nobody has mentioned good old fashioned (& economical) Vitamin E. During that skin tight blue jeans ear of the 70's & 80's my butt & thighs were covered with stretch marks! Big ugly red ones on porcelain skin. An Amazing Cure!!! Just prick open a gel capsule or buy the oil at a Health Food store -Get concentrations of less than 12,000iu or it is very sludgy & hard to spread. If consistently used - applied at least every other night when the mark is fresh & hasn't had a chance to scar - meaning it is still red not white or lighter pigmentation and no raising or indention into the surrounding skin you may be able to get nearly 100% healing - try it. It worked for me.

In 1980 and 1986 I was pregnant. I used PURE cocoa butter from a stick at a little drug store. I walked around smelling like a chocolate bare all the time but behold, I have no stretch marks whatsoever! Stretch marks run in my family and my mothers were really bad. You have to be consistent and us it twice a day for it to work. Also, no mind smelling like a chocolate bar.
