So much happened this weekend with so little time to discuss it all. Here is a recap of this weekend's hottest stories.Fans of the self-proclaimed 'sex kitten' Eartha Kitt remember the versatile singer, dancer and actress after her death on Christmas Day. The 81-year-old rose from modest roots in the cotton fields to become a symbol of sensuality with her famous catlike purr. From dancing cabaret to playing Catwoman in the Batman TV series, Kitt never stopped working, even up until she passed away from colon cancer on Thursday.
You can't talk about the weekend without mentioning the football games. After the latest football scores, only the best of the best made the cut and will be playing in the playoffs. To see who your favorite team is playing, check out the playoff schedule. Though the Lions aren't on their way to the Super Bowl, they are getting a lot of attention for a different reason. After losing to the Packers, Detroit became the first team in history to hold a 0-16 record. Promptly following their losses, the Lions, Jets and Browns all fired their head coaches.
You may recognize Jaimee Foxworth for her role on 'Family Matters' as Judy Winslow or you may remember her from adult films where she was known as Crave. After she traded Urkel for porn stars, the child star sought help for her marijuana addiction on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' and is now expecting her first child.
Former Tennessee GOP leader Chip Saltsman gave the gift of music this year for Christmas. Saltsman distributed a CD to RNC members with many parody songs, including ones about Al Gore and Barack Obama. While some got a jolly chuckle, others like GOP chairman Mike Duncan are 'shocked and appalled' at songs like 'Barack the Magic Negro.' Did we mention this jokester wants to head up the RNC next?

What a class act! I was able to see one of her last shows in October 2008. She was wonderful, hitting every note and even doing at little of the "charleston", on stage. RIP Miss Kitt. Join me at www.runarounddiva.com/Music.html in celebrating the life of a remarkable woman.

Blessings and a peaceful journey to Ms. Eartha Kitt.
She was the epitome of Talent and Sexuality combined.
Young wannabe starlets should look to her and women of her day as examples.

I'm sorry but Eartha Kitt does not even begin to think about being mentioned in the same breath as Paul Newman, or even Roy Scheider. She was so 1950's. Who remembers the 50's. Her only claims to fame was Catwoman, Santa Baby, and political radicalism. Leeann Meriweather, and Julie Newmar were better Catwomen. Madonna's Santa Baby was a better recording. And John Lennon, Martin Luther King, and RFK were better political radicals. She was just a former famous old lady that died.

Eartha Kitt defined the term Diva back when it was not even used..I liked her spirit for some reason, and just found out from aol news item that L.B. Johnson had her fired from all media projects (black listed) in this country, because Eartha spoke out against the Vietnam war during a meeting with Lady Byrd at the W.House...knew there was a reason I liked her

All she was was a 50's has been. Good riddance! Who in the hell remembers her? So what if she was a black female artist? There were thousands of them. Were they all great, too?

Eartha Kitt will be missed. It was a proud day, when I able to meet her. She was one of the Great Ones!!!

The only thing I remeber her in is Batman, and she was the worst and skankiest Catwoman ever.
By John on Dec 29th 2008 at 4:28PM
She always gave me the creeps, especially her so-called singing voice. She made an awful Catwoman, but would have made a good Lizardwoman if one would have existed.

I really liked her! The last time I saw her was on the TV show "The Nanny" with Fran Dresher! She had a great voice and was a very talented person! JC

Eartha Kitt was an awesome person. One of my fsvorite Christmas songs is "Santa Baby". It is a shame when people are not taught that is they can't say something nice about someone, then don't say anything at all. My comment goes to "John" who said mean things about a dead person. I guess his comments were the highlight of his day.

We need more people like her! I remember her stance on The Vietnam war! (the war where 58,000) young people died for nothing) you remember that one! Dont you! Well nothing has changed, because there are yet another 4000 young people dead for another mis adventure you know Weapons of mass destruction and all of that crap! Wherever she is there are people like me (veterans ) that now more than ever realise that swhe was on 100% on target! JC

I bet whoever wrote this has no idea the talent Eartha Kitt had or is even old enough to remember her when she was in her prime...I remember her well and she was smart, articulate and very savvy with talent to spare...More than a Vixen trust me on that.
Want to see the real Eartha rent new Faces of 1952, the Movie version.

I see the Author has no sense of Humor when it comes to Democrats...just ripe the hide off Sarah Palin and george Bush..that's fine and dandy...lighten up cause I'd love to have the CD...if you want to complain about racist music take on the RAP Industry...you'll have enough to whine about all day long that way..nothing is worse than a hypocrite.
By Dave on Dec 29th 2008 at 5:24PM
I interviewed Kitt in 1987. She was intelligent and articulate. She was also an incredible bitch, generally despised by anyone who had to perform with her. The force field of negativity that exuded from her pores was enough to repel anyone.
By rjuliansf on Dec 29th 2008 at 5:32PM
'A SUPER LADY, WHO WILL BE MISSED. SAW HER ON A MOVIE THE OTHER NITE.,A GREAT SINGER ALSO
By MARY on Dec 29th 2008 at 5:55PM
Ms. Kitt was a legend in her own time. I'm certain her talent and experience surpassed even her own wildest dreams. A real survivor, in the entertainment industry. She will be sorely missed by all of her devoted fans.

Eartha Kitt = vintage at it's best, always a
treat = pure entertainment. RIP
By 100mph on Dec 29th 2008 at 6:10PM
Eartha Kitt was a lousy singer. She sounded like she had sucked helium out of a balloon and then sang. She also had a lousy attitude and considering that during her career, her best-known performance was on the Batman TV show in 1966, she isn't exactly someone that should have had an ego or an attitude. She was a bitch to people she worked with. The only exception was the great Judy Garland. They were planning a TV show and Eartha was going to sing with Judy, and Eartha told Judy "I promise I will be nice to you." Judy looked at her ahd said, "dahling, as if you had a CHOICE."
