Need Help Getting In The Mood?

I'm making an educated guess that most everyone is aware of, or has even tried, some sort of outside element they believed might help them ( or their loved one ) "get in the mood." No, I'm not referring to Viagra or witchcraft; I'm talking about aphrodisiacs.

What is an aphrodisiac? Well, it can be a drug, scent, food, drink or herb that (some claim) may kindle or increase sexual desire. The name originally comes from the Greek goddess of Sensuality, Aphrodite. Throughout history, certain foods, drinks and behaviors have had a reputation for making sex more attainable.

Not that I am a subject matter expert, or have evidence from Asylum.com to counter the claim, but there's very little historical and scientific data that shows these things actually work. In fact, some articles suggest the desired results may be attributed to a placebo effect, meaning the stuff worked because the person wanted it to.

Below is a list of the "most searched aphrodisiacs" on AOL Search. So what do you think? Are aphrodisiacs real or make believe?

Who's Your Favorite TV Judge?

I suppose that I am as guilty as the next person of watching the tragic, cruel, and often hateful things that people do to one another on reality TV. Insert the meanest thing you ever saw on 'Survivor', 'Rock Of Love', 'The Hills' or even the 'Apprentice' here.

But everyone now and then there's nothing better at 'cleansing the palette' than a dose of law & order reality TV style. Our DVR at home is full of episodes from these dispensers of daytime justice.

The cases typically run the gamut of friends, family, business partners, and complete strangers bringing charges against one another. The conflicts range from petty grievances and misunderstandings to surreal episodes that can't be described without pictures and a vivid imagination. Those are my favorite!

Thank goodness that we can rely on road tested 'judicial' wisdom from people like Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown and, if you're lucky enough to have him in syndication where you live, the world famous Judge Wapner.

Anybody out there a fan of these TV Judges? A fan of one we might have missed? Please mention them below and let us know, we'll try to include them next time we tackle this topic.

Court adjourned!

Heston Signs Off and Bobby Writes A Book

Here's a quick recap of the hot topics that were on your mind over the weekend and where they showed up in AOL Search.

The world now has one less movie icon after the passing of Charlton Heston at 84 years of age. A star in every sense of the word, his acting credits included monumental movies like 'Planet of the Apes', 'Ben-Hur' and the classic 'The Ten Commandments'. He also made his mark and tons of fans by defending personal causes such as the Second Amendment and his work with the NRA.

Reports on the new book from Bobby Brown made Karrine Steffans and Robin Crawford a bit more popular than they probably would like to have been. Bobby highlighted Karrine as a one ( of they many ) ladies he was romantically involved with prior to Whitney Houston. He then also hinted that Whitney and Robin had 'more than a friend' relationship. You can read an overview on the new book over at Black Voices, a great site if you've not stopped by before.

Rounding out our Top Ten from the weekend was a return of Charles Bronson to the Hot Searches list. I say return, but there's no real documentation that he was ever in the list before; however, we're happy to have him now! Mr. Bronson's cult classic Death Wish movies ( 1 through 4 ) are being presented on AMC TV during the week of April 7th as part of the American Icons series.

That rounds out the weekend, do you know of any other weekend highlights that didn't show up in our hot searches? If so please tell us about them.

Play Ball!

It's finally baseball time again. Which means most of my favorite things in the world are back!

The smell of hot dogs and popcorn in the air combined with the sound of wooden bats and leather gloves at the ballpark signal America's pastime is back in full swing.

While opening day was technically last week in Japan when Manny Ramirez, Big Papi (David Ortiz) and the Red Sox split a two game series with the Oakland A's. The season began in earnest on Monday when thousands of people skipped work to head out to all the day time games at the ballpark.

This made us wonder, what baseball players are you looking for on AOL Search?

Whether for fantasy baseball draft prep or simply to catch the latest buzz on your favorite players at the end of spring training, here is the list of the most search baseball players.

The Mets and Yankees are well represented, along with notable players from the Red Sox. Don't see your favorite baseball player below? Tell us who that player is in the comments section!
