Want to See a Show on Broadway?

Broadway is one of the most important parts of American culture. The famous avenue known for its fabulous theater productions has lured visitors from far and wide to see famed New York City Broadway shows. New Broadway hits come along every year, but long-running shows still win the hearts of fans. Take a look at our top searched list of Broadway plays and musicals to see which shows theater enthusiasts are searching for.

The top Broadway show on our list is a new spin on a classic tale. 'Wicked' is the untold story of Oz before Dorothy ran amok in her ruby red slippers. If you want to hear the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch tell their side of the stories, pick up tickets and head the the Gershwin Theater.

Following the relatively young (in Broadway years) show 'Wicked' is 'Chicago,' a matron of the Broadway stage. This New York Broadway show was such a big hit that it was plucked off the grand stage and brought to Hollywood where it made its debut on the silver screen.

'Chicago' is not the only New York Broadway play to be made into a blockbuster movie. 'Hairspray,' 'Mamma Mia!,' and 'The Phantom of the Opera' were all big film hits. If you can't make it to New York, movies are the second best way to catch the drama.

If you want to see a new Broadway show or one of your old favorites, you can find tickets several different ways. Contact the theater box office early, before the show sells out. If your day is free, ask for matinee tickets, which are usually more available and less expensive. For cheap Broadway tickets, visit a reliable theater ticket broker.

Searching for a Halloween Costume?

Halloween is the one time of the year you can dress up like whatever you want without being considered a crazy person. Take advantage of this big chance to be creative and express a side of yourself no one has ever seen. Whether you decide to dress up like your hero or your dog, the possibilities are endless. So ditch that stale Halloween mummy costume and check out our list of the top searched costumes for some ideas to get you started.

Hollywood costumes took the top spots on our Halloween costumes list. Instead of popular Halloween videos like 'Nightmare on Elm Street' inspiring costumes, this year's get-ups are all about the Hollywood blockbusters. Hits like 'The Dark Knight,' 'Indiana Jones' and "Pirates of the Caribbean' created a craze for character costumes. To pull off the perfect Joker costume, all you need is a great Halloween makeup kit to paint on a deranged smile and to practice the phrase 'Why so serious?' with a disturbed drawl. Its enough to make Batman run for cover.

Disney costumes are making a big splash this Halloween too. For little kids, Disney movie characters are the coolest to dress up as. In fact, Disney at Halloween is fun for any age. Mermaid costumes, like Ariel, look adorable for newborn Halloween costumes and adults can doll up in a Tinkerbell costume for a sexy Halloween ensemble.

My parents used to dress up like one of the animal Halloween costumes that showed up on our top searched list. Who knew that all their years of dressing like a pair of bumble bees was actually ahead of the trend?

What is the best Halloween costume you have ever seen? Let us know! Search for more Halloween costumes and Halloween party supplies on AOL Search. October 31 will be here sooner than you think, so hurry to AOL Shopping to buy all your supplies and your costume today!

Infomercials You Can't Resist

You can't escape infomercials. They are all over late-night TV and sometimes they even sneak their way into prime-time commercial breaks. In truth, we love to hate them. It is amazing to watch a cloth soak up nearly a gallon of water or see a patch suck all the toxins out of your body, but deep down we know it probably doesn't truly work like that.

Love them or hate them, you are still searching for them. Check out our list of the top searched infomercials.

Not surprisingly, most of these products deal with fitness care and body image, including exercise equipment, facial skin care and diets. Number one on the top searched list is Nutrisystem, a weight loss system. These convincing commercials show people losing weight in a matter of days. If it actually works is up to you to find out. Another health-related infomercial is Dual Action Cleanse, which markets itself as a natural body cleanser meant to clean your colon.

Other than products to lose weight, other top searched 'As Seen on TV' commercials include a slow cooker made especially for pasta.

Looking For a Cold Remedy?

When you wake up in the middle of the night with nasal congestion, a mild headache and an itchy throat, there is no denying that you are coming down with a cold. We typically get two to four colds per year, but life goes on and you can't always curl up in bed until you feel better. So, where do you turn for relief?

Of all the different medications, treatments and remedies out there, it is hard to self-prescribe yourself a cure-all. For minor colds, you can get some relief from one of our top searched cold remedies. Hopefully one will help you get over your cold faster, or at least ease the symptoms.

According to the top searched list, the best cold medicine is Mucinex, which helps break up chest congestion. The second medicine on our list is also available at your local pharmacy, like CVS Pharmacy. Airborne, an herbal supplement, was developed by a school teacher who was tired of getting sick from her students.

If you prefer a more natural cure, try taking supplements of echinacea and zinc. Echinacea helps strengthen your immune system and zinc is known to shorten the duration of cold symptoms. The two together act as a one-two punch to knock out your cold. You can also try and avoid colds all together with a visit the vitamin shop. Pick up some Vitamin C and take it every day during cold season to help fortify your immune system.

Check with a medical professional for any possible drug interactions or if symptoms persist. If your children are sick, make sure you use a medicine appropriate to their age, like infant cold medicine.

Shopping For Your Home?

I just moved in to a new apartment, and the thought of furnishing it is making my head spin. There are so many things I need in my living spaces (like couches, tables, bookshelves) that shopping for it all is completely overwhelming. I've been to several stores and picked up some basics, but I am still far behind. I decided to look at which stores other AOL Search users were searching for when they shop for their home.

My apartment was completely bare when I moved in, so I need a ton of basic home supplies, straight down to the blinds for windows. The best stores for those crucial home furnishings ranked at the top two of our top searched home stores list. Home Depot and Lowe's are both huge names in the home improvement world, but they sell more than hardwood and screws. Both have a huge selection of lighting, bathroom vanity furniture, flooring, custom shower doors and so much more. Even if you don't consider yourself much of a handy man, they have tons of supplies for easy weekend projects.

For the bedroom, I already have a select comfort bed that I love. All I need are some bed toppers, like pillows and blankets. Number three on our list, Bed Bath & Beyond, is perfect for that. Just like Linens 'N Things, number eight, these stores are stocked floor to ceiling and door to door with sheets, towels, linens and other odds and ends.

Number four on the top searched list, Ikea, has everything you could ever think of for home decorating. Their huge stores also include showrooms so you can browse the merchandise and get good ideas before you actually start shopping. A lot of Ikea furniture requires you to assemble it yourself, so keep that in mind when you are looking to buy that large entertainment center. If you are trying to stay organized, ask about their custom closet shelving. You can build your perfect storage closet so that you never have to worry about making a mess.

Does Your Hair Need Help?

When the weather starts to change, my hair changes too--for the worst. It becomes dry, unmanageable and lackluster. But instead of pulling a Britney Spears and shaving it all off out of frustration, I reach for my secret weapon: leave-in conditioners.

Leave-in hair treatments are pretty self explanatory, and that is the beauty of them. Instead of going to a salon and paying big bucks for a professional treatment, you can sit at home with some ice cream and your fuzzy slippers while your hair rejuvenates. You can also use them on the run, like number five on our list Terax. Before you fashion your hair in the morning, work in some leave-in conditioner and then enjoy your trendy hair style for the rest of the day knowing that your locks are getting stronger and healthier by the minute.

Just as everyone's hair is different, there are tons of different kinds of treatments to help tame your tresses. The overall goal of a leave-in conditioner is to impart a bit of moisture to your locks while soothing tangles and split ends. Some use oils, others use glycerin and, if you look hard, a few use only all-natural ingredients. Check out our list of the top searched leave-in conditioners and find a treatment that works for you.

Number one on our list is probably the best known deep conditioning hair treatment. Vo5 is sold at most pharmacies and is the most affordable option on our list. The more expensive, but completely luxurious, brands include Aveda and Kerastase, who has several different strengthening conditioners.

What do you use to keep your hair healthy? Let us know! Find more leave-in conditioners on AOL Search.

Is Your Money Safe?

By now you've probably felt a crunch on your wallet caused by the current credit crisis. Several banks and financial institutions have gone under and left market analysts to dive into panic mode and the government to step in to take action. Just last week President George W. Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, more commonly known as the 'Bailout Bill.'

What does all this mean to your savings and investments? The bill raises the limit on federal deposit insurance coverage, which means your bank deposits are now insured up to $250,000 at any FDIC member institution.

FDIC deposit insurance is fully backed by the U.S. government so that you won't lose a single red cent from your deposits. The coverage ends there though. If you read the fine print, the FDIC does not insure stocks, bonds, mutual funds and money market funds. Those are all up to you, your investment smarts, and some luck.

To make sure your cash is covered, check out our list of the top searched member FDIC banks. If you see your bank on the list, take a sigh of relief, your money is insured and you can keep right on building your retirement savings.

Keep in mind the old adage: 'don't keep all your eggs in one basket.' Most financial advisors will tell you it is still best to diversify your investments, whether it be on the stock exchange, with a high-yield savings account or other investment tools.

Even though your bank may be backed by the FDIC, it is also wise to shop around and make sure you are getting the best bank rates. Most banks publish their rates online so you can compare the interest rates for a direct savings account with other financial services. Make your money work for you.

Do you feel that your money is secure? Let us know! Search for more member FDIC banks on AOL Search.
